WCCM: Ecumenical-Buddhist-New Age “Christian Meditation” institutionalized in the Archdiocese of Bombay
Registered Office: Mount Carmel Church, Bandra, Mumbai
The WCCM is the World Community for Christian Meditation. IT HAS NO CANONICAL RECOGNITION.
Further, according to an August 17, 2011 letter from the Benedictine Abbot Primate Dr. Notker Wolf OSB, its current leader Fr. Laurence Freeman is NO LONGER A BENEDICTINE
MONK though its Indian proponents Fr. Joe Pereira and Christopher Mendonca
continue to use his name with the OSB suffix.
Fr. Joe Pereira is the founder of an NGO called KRIPA Foundation that promotes yoga, a Hindu meditation system and other New Age stuff like Jungian psychology. Christopher Mendonca is its main spokesperson.
Fr. Joe Pereira is the Indian National Coordinator of the WCCM.
This so-called “Christian Meditation” is not Christian but Buddhist, ecumenical, and New Age.
The Examiner, the official weekly of the Archdiocese of Bombay, is the de facto mouthpiece of both KRIPA and WCCM. All archdiocesan facilites are at their disposal.
Two successive Cardinal Archbishops of Bombay have given full and open support to KRIPA/WCCM.
Since I have reported on it in great detail, especially the first in the list (see the list of files at the end of the present file), I will not go into much detail here on why “Christian Meditation” is New Age and not Catholic.
[Of course, as one will see, there are many other reports in the FR. JOE PEREIRA-KRIPA-WCCM series.]
Moreover, I have already, just yesterday, released a direct sequel to that report:
WCCM-NEW AGE CHRISTIAN MEDITATION INSTITUTIONALIZED IN BOMBAY ARCHDIOCESE
The present report, part 2, (prepared with information retrieved from the Kripa Foundation blog), is a further update that continues to document that the WCCM-KRIPA combine is hopelessly New Age, Hinduised — apart from the images, I present a sampling of Fr. Joe Pereira’s “homilies” for the reader — and irretrievably associated with the heretical “Catholic” ashrams movement… and yet most shockingly is blessed and encouraged by the very Cardinals and bishops of Bombay Archdiocese, and many other archbishops, bishops, priests and nuns who should instead be warning the faithful against these spiritual dangers.
I have tried to present the information retrieved from the KRIPA blog in groups and in chronological order.

Kripa Foundation Iyengar Yoga Intensive at Pune

February 26, 2011
Kripa Foundation Iyengar Yoga Intensive workshop with the students of the Bandra Iyengar Yoga community was held at Pune. A visit to Guruji B.K.S. Iyengar was the highlight of the workshop.
The beautiful new premises of the post graduate wing of JDV (Papal Athenaeum) offered an opportunity to try out standing Bhismasana too. The most Indian Chapel with the centre figure of a Dancing Jesus was ideal for including the Mass within the workshop.
The daily programme consisted of
three hours of Asanas, two hours of Pranayama and two hours of Meditation.
NEW COMMUNITY BIBLE 02-THE PAPAL SEMINARY, PUNE, INDIAN THEOLOGIANS, AND THE CATHOLIC ASHRAMS
Note the aberrations at this major Catholic seminary where Fr. Joe Pereira conducted his yoga workshop.
The tabernacle has been relegated to the side.
The mandatory crucifix is neither behind the altar large and visible to all nor on the altar at Mass.
Instead, to the side there is the oxymoron of a “risen Christ” or “resurrexifix” superimposed on a cross. The reminder of the salvific death of Jesus has been subtly eliminated. (See also page 9)
But that is the new norm in the post-Vatican II Church:

“After Every Yoga Practice Fr. Joe celebrates The Eucharist with the Group. This Eucharistic celebration was in Frieburg.”
This is both blasphemous and sacrilegious. Here he is on his yoga mat prior to setting up the table for Mass on the same site. I can confidently suppose that, as personally witnessed by me at “Masses” in the Catholic Ashrams, anyone, regardless of their religious affiliation or spiritual condition, may receive Holy Communion at Fr. Pereira’s Masses just so long as they practise yoga under his tutelage.

Christ the Supreme Yogi

When an Indian reads the gospels for the first time, one is impressed by the energy that radiates from the person of Jesus. William Johnston in his Mystical Theology says that it is a reminder of the `ki’ the `chi’, the prana, the energy that forms the very basis of Asian Culture and religion. Energy goes out of Jesus when he heals the sick and casts out demons. Light, blinding light, radiates from his body and clothing when he is transfigured on Mount Tabor.
On Good Friday, as we recall his last days on earth, as he says, “I am” in response to those who came to arrest him, the crowd falls to the ground overpowered by his magnetic presence. And finally with a burst of energy he dies as recorded by the evangelists, “crying out with a loud voice, he yielded up the Spirit” (Mark 15, 37).
Those Christians who practise Iyengar Yoga as a path way to God and as contemplative prayer, do consider Jesus as a supreme example of a Yogi who claims that the “Father and I are One” and prays that we may be one as he and the Father. This journey is absolutely yogic. For his call to discipleship is, “if you wish to be my disciple, deny yourself, take up your cross and follow me”. It is a lifelong process like the grain of wheat that falls into the ground and dies to bear much fruit. When Bill W, the co-founder of Alcoholics Anonymous described addiction as “self-will running riot” he was referring to the third step of the Twelve Step programme which suggests, “to make one’s will and life over to the God of one’s understanding”. In the Garden of Gethsemane, the prayer of Jesus was, “Father if it is possible let this chalice of suffering pass away but not my will but thine be done.”
The Supreme Sadhana is a way of the Cross. Iyengar always repeats his own journey of Yoga as “Pain being my Master”. It is by dying to oneself that one is born to eternal life. This energy is at work in the world even today. In the teachings of the Second Vatican Council, it is said that, “Christ is now at work in the hearts of men and women through the energy of the Spirit. But the greatest energy and the greatest gift is love. For “greater love than this no one has than to lay down one’s life for one’s loved ones”. And again, “If I speak in the language of mortals and angels but do not have love, I am a noisy gong and clanging cymbal” (I Cor, 13, 1). For as St John tells us, “God is love”.
In the process of dying to oneself lies the pathway of forgiveness. In the world of growing individualism and self-righteousness, the path of forgiveness demands a supreme act of surrender. To extend this love and understanding even to one’s enemies by finding an alternative to “a tooth for a tooth and an eye for an eye” demands a unique sense of transcendence into the realm of the ‘Purusha’. It is only from that realm can one interpret the words of the crucified Jesus, “Father forgive them for they know not what they are doing.” Only an act of total ‘Ishvara-pranidhana’, the final ‘Niyama’ can generate the energy to utter such words of love at the height of agony. Paradoxically as a supreme yogi, Christ had entered into the final state of ‘Anandamaya-kosha’ (the blissful body) for his cry of forgiveness itself was a cry of Joy and Resurrection at the victory over sin and death.
As Fr Tony D’Mello
(sic) who often spoke like a Sufi Mystic would say, “If you `look’ at the serene countenance of the crucified Saviour, you may see a `laughing Buddha’!”
Fr. Joe Pereira’s narrative is chock full of New Age-ese. The Vatican Document of February 3, 2003, on the New Age explains this concept of cosmic energy, chi, ki, as esoteric and occult. In explain Christ’s miracles in such terms, the priest is denying the divinity and power of the Son of God. He even trivializes the mystery of the Trinity. How do the bishops let him get away with it? Wait to read his “homilies”!
Jesus is not, never was, a yogi. Briefly, a yogi is one who strives through renouncing the world (yama, niyama), physical contortions (asanas) at times using mantras, breathing of prana (pranayama), going inward through meditation on nothing, and ascends three higher stages finally uniting with an impersonal “god” into which he merges, with the “enlightenment that he and god are one. Jesus did none of that.
Fr. Pereira is a liar. So are all who claim or depict Jesus as a yogi.
Jesuit Fr. Tony de Mello was a virtual Buddhist at the time of his sudden and premature death.

A Tribute to Bede Griffiths
I write this to share in the 10th anniversary of Bede Griffiths’ death as celebrated by the World Community for Christian Meditation at the University of Reading, England this August 2003.

Bede Griffiths and my life journey
EXTRACT: Forty five years ago Bede Griffiths touched my life when I was a young seminarian at the St. Paul Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota. I read and reread his autobiography, The Golden String. Little did I know or he know that my life journey would take me from his inspiration to being open to Gandhi, Thich Nhat Hanh, Teilhard de Chardin, John Main, Thomas Merton, Bill W. and AA Spirituality, Drs. Hal and Sidra Stone and many others of this caliber.
His broadness of vision opened me to the essential core of all world religions and to see the unity at that core, a God who is love poured forth in the Cave of our Heart by the Holy Spirit as Paul teaches in Romans 5. I put this truth in different terms coming from the Hindu tradition. In the Upanishads they speak of the spirit of the One who created the universe as dwelling in our heart. This same spirit is the One who in silence is loving us all…
-Fr. Bill Whittier, Written at Assumption College, Manila, Philippines, April 24, 2003
Now, we know. Fr. Bill Whittier is part of the WCCM organization, a “Christian Meditator”, a disciple not only of John Main and Bede Griffiths, but also influenced by the teachings of the
Zen Buddhist
Thich Nhat Hanh, the world’s leading New Ager Pierre Teilhard de Chardin,
Trappist monk Thomas Merton who was actually a proponent and Master of Zen meditation,
etc.
This New Age priest is training KRIPA staff who then contaminate others whom they treat in their centres; his book is advertised for and sold through KRIPA/Fr. Joe Pereira.

Lecture by Fr Joe at St. Mary’s University – Calgary

October 6, 2010
Fr Joe illustrated through his presentation and lecture how Bede Griffiths pioneered this spirit which made the Church fully at home in India’s culture and ethos. He explored how Bede and Mother Teresa’s approaches complemented each other and impacted the masses through their unique blend of contemplation and selfless service. Fr Joe highlighted how Bede Griffiths fostered genuine interfaith dialogue and shared his own personal encounters with people from different faiths.
Fr. Bede Griffiths OSB, a Camaldoli Benedictine, pioneered the heretical, New Age “Catholic” ashrams movement in India. His Indian rite “Masses” were travesties of the Holy Mass. Western New Agers lived in his Shantivanam, Saccidananda Ashram and some wrote their theses there. His legacy lives on in the Hinduisation of the Indian Church and inspires many like Fr. Joe Pereira.

Let me quote from the Vatican Document on the New Age:
2.3.2. The essential matrix of New Age thinking
The essential matrix of New Age thinking is to be found in the esoteric-theosophical tradition which was fairly widely accepted in European intellectual circles in the 18th and 19th centuries. …
Marilyn Ferguson devoted a chapter of The Aquarian Conspiracy to the precursors of the Age of Aquarius, those who had woven the threads of a transforming vision based on the expansion of consciousness and the experience of self-transcendence. Two of those she mentioned were the American psychologist William James and the Swiss psychiatrist Carl Gustav Jung. James defined religion as experience, not dogma, and he taught that human beings can change their mental attitudes in such a way that they are able to become architects of their own destiny. Jung emphasized the transcendent character of consciousness and introduced the idea of the collective unconscious, a kind of store for symbols and memories shared with people from various different ages and cultures. According to Wouter Hanegraaff, both of these men contributed to a “sacralisation of psychology”, something that has become an important element of New Age thought and practice. Jung, indeed, “not only psychologized esotericism but he also sacralized psychology, by filling it with the contents of esoteric speculation. The result was a body of theories which enabled people to talk about God while really meaning their own psyche, and about their own psyche while really meaning the divine. If the psyche is ‘mind’, and God is ‘mind’ as well, then to discuss one must mean to discuss the other”. His response to the accusation that he had “psychologised” Christianity was that “psychology is the modern myth and only in terms of the current myth can we understand the faith”. It is certainly true that Jung’s psychology sheds light on many aspects of the Christian faith, particularly on the need to face the reality of evil, but his religious convictions are so different at different stages of his life that one is left with a confused image of God. A central element in his thought is the cult of the sun, where God is the vital energy (libido) within a person.
As he himself said, “This comparison is no mere play of words”. This is “the god within” to which Jung refers, the essential divinity he believed to be in every human being. The path to the inner universe is through the unconscious. The inner world’s correspondence to the outer one is in the collective unconscious.
The tendency to interchange psychology and spirituality was firmly embedded in the Human Potential Movement as it developed towards the end of the 1960s at the Esalen Institute in California. Transpersonal psychology, strongly influenced by Eastern religions and by Jung, offers a contemplative journey where science meets mysticism. The stress laid on bodiliness, the search for ways of expanding consciousness and the cultivation of the myths of the collective unconscious were all encouragements to search for “the God within” oneself. To realise one’s potential, one had to go beyond one’s ego in order to become the god that one is, deep down. This could be done by choosing the appropriate therapy – meditation, parapsychological experiences, the use of hallucinogenic drugs. These were all ways of achieving “peak experiences”, “mystical” experiences of fusion with God and with the cosmos.
3.5. The “god within” and “theosis”
Here is a key point of contrast between New Age and Christianity. So much New Age literature is shot through with the conviction that there is no divine being “out there”, or in any real way distinct from the rest of reality. From Jung‘s time onwards there has been a stream of people professing belief in “the god within”. Our problem, in a New Age perspective, is our inability to recognise our own divinity, an inability which can be overcome with the help of guidance and the use of a whole variety of techniques for unlocking our hidden (divine) potential. The fundamental idea is that ‘God’ is deep within ourselves. We are gods, and we discover the unlimited power within us by peeling off layers of inauthenticity.
Notes
In late 1977, Marilyn Ferguson sent a questionnaire to 210 “persons engaged in social transformation”, whom she also calls “Aquarian Conspirators”. The following is interesting: “When respondents were asked to name individuals whose ideas had influenced them, either through personal contact or through their writings, those most often named, in order of frequency, were Pierre Teilhard de Chardin,
C.G.
Jung…

Catholic Priest teaching Yog in St. Jacob’s Church Zurich: Fr. Joe
http://kripafoundation.blogspot.in/2013/06/catholic-priest-teaching-yog-in-st.html
June 5, 2013
Every Year Fr Joe H Pereira of Kripa Foundation teaches yog in Europe and gives a special teaching on Kripa Foundation Iyengar Yoga in Zurich. This year the event on the evening of Monday 3rd June drew in a record crowd of a hundred yog practitioners from all over Switzerland at St. Jacob’s Church.
Fr. Joe demonstrated from the front of the altar and explained how some postures help to bring the brain into the ‘Alpha’ state* so that one is able to contemplate with full attention.
It is most extraordinary that a Catholic Priest is allowed to do this programme year after year in a Church and all the offerings are given fully to Kripa Foundation.
*Hypnosis
http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A352496
Today, scientists have begun studying hypnosis again, under the name ‘The Alpha State’. By attaching wires to the head they have discovered that there is a definite change in the functions of the brain when someone is induced into this state. These differ from sleep patterns and they therefore concluded that there is scientific proof of its existence, although they cannot fully explain it or the reasons why the brain should act in this manner.
Little wonder that many people are confused as to what it really is. Most experts cannot fully agree and so there is very little hope for the individual to be given any certainty about the subject.

Krishna Janmashtami also known as Krishnashtami or Gokulashtami, or sometimes simply as Janmashtami, is an annual celebration of the birth of the Hindu deity Krishna, the eighth avatar of Vishnu.
The festival is celebrated on the eighth day (Ashtami) of the Krishna Paksha (dark fortnight) of the month of Shravana (August–September) in the Hindu calendar.
Rasa lila, dramatic enactments of the life of Krishna, are a special feature in regions of Mathura and Vrindavan, and regions following Vaishnavism in Manipur. While the Rasa lila re-creates the flirtatious aspects of Krishna’s youthful days, the Dahi Handi celebrate God’s playful and mischievous side, where teams of young men form human towers to reach a high-hanging pot of curd and break it. We felt and understood the meaning of a sattvic practice – a practice that is balanced and harmonious. Integration of male and female energy, Yin and Yang…
Apart from his oft-repeated lie about Jesus’ being a yogi, Fr. Joe often repeats his Hindu guru’s assertion that the asanas of Hindu yoga are “prayers”. Maybe they are… but to the gods of the pagans.
“There is no resurrection and ascension without crucifixion”* – Says Fr. Joe

June 5, 2014
“There is no resurrection and ascension without crucifixion” the priest repeated (sic) quote Eckhart Tolle**.
“What is your crucifixion? What needs to die in you so that you can become a resurrection and ascension into heaven? Each of the workshop participants had the opportunity to answer these questions in asana, meditation and pranayama. ***
*If he believes in that truth, why does he use/permit the use/not object to the use of the Risen Christ without the Cross? Or the “Resurrexifix”?

He is the author of The Power of Now, A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment published by Yogi Impressions.
Eckhart Tolle, the prophet of “now” once said that everyone carries “‘The Truth’ inside — all the joy, creativity, energy, love they seek,” Tolle writes in The New Earth. “Was Jesus the son of God? Yes. But so are you. You just haven’t realized it yet.”

An excerpt from his homily:
Lokmanya Tilak … encouraged and fostered this concept of a flesh and blood God in Ganesh…Ganapati. And we are having these days the celebration of this Ganapati. He went further and advised, that this Ganesh, a so called flesh and blood kind of statue should be ultimately immersed in the sea. It has to be put into the ocean of the absolute.

The world today, is not believing, that there is a freedom from this satanic grip of alcohol. And the one who gave us this formula was none other than the leading psychologist Carl Gustav Jung. He described this statement of Jesus in the Gospel “Where two or three are gathered in my name. I am there.” That is what Carl Gustav Jung gave a scientific name for it. You know what he called that? He called it “collective consciousness.” … “collective consciousness.”
20% of alcoholics get the desire to die, and 2% of alcoholics actually kill themselves. This is a disease of Necrophilia. Necrosis is death, and therefore Necrophilia is love for to die.
As a matter of fact, it is the “collective unconscious” and not the “collective conscious”, see page 8.
And, necrophilia is not “love for to die” (sic) but “Necrophilia, also called thanatophilia, is a sexual attraction or sexual act involving corpses” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Necrophilia.
This shows the priest’s ignorance as also his lack of serious commitment to preparing his homilies.

To me he was like Mother Teresa my one dimension of my spirituality. Like the Yin and Yang, Guruji and Mother were my ‘Ida’ and ‘Pingala’ Nadis. Jesus being my ‘Sushumna’ Nadi.
The Ida and Pingala nadis are often seen as referring to the two hemispheres of the brain. Pingala is the extroverted, solar nadi, and corresponds to left hemisphere. Ida is the introverted, lunar nadi, and refers to the right hemisphere of the brain. The Sushumna connects the base chakra to the crown chakra.
Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nadi_(yoga)
According to the yogic scriptures, there are 72,000 nadis, or energy channels. Among them, ida, pingala, and sushumna are the most important.
Source:
https://sites.google.com/site/swamiramateachings/swami-rama-sushumna
The nadis and the sushumna are occult esoteric energy channels in the purported subtle body of a person.
The sushumna is awakened so that pranic energy flows upwards from the lowest chakra to the crown chakra, when one attains yogic enlightenment and god-realisation.

TWISTS OF FAITH – In Mumbai, Fr. Joe a Catholic priest-yogi attacks Western propaganda against yoga
http://kripafoundation.blogspot.in/2015/04/twists-of-faith-in-mumbai-fr-joe.html
By Aarefa Johari, April 8, 2015
Anti-yoga propaganda, says Pereira, is the work of a specific lobby of fundamentalist, “born-again” Christians who he describes as “God addicts”.
That should include Cardinal Ratzinger, several Pontifical Councils, not a few exorcists and a number of Catholic ministries including EWTN. But Pereira goes instead for the Protestants:
“Jesus, for me, is the supreme yogi, because he spoke about being one with God,” said Pereira, who emphasizes that Iyengar yoga transcends all ideologies and philosophies with its ability to unite people. Just this year, Pereira published a book called Yoga for the Practice of Christian Meditation, connecting the practice of various yoga asanas to teachings from the Bible.
Christian denominations like the Pentecostals, the Southern Baptist churches in the US and various television evangelists – the groups that routinely oppose the practice of yoga – are highly fundamentalist “God addicts” who Pereira likens to the Hindutva Bajrang Dal or the Islamist Al-Qaeda. “All these groups preach the prosperity gospel – the idea that if you follow the gospel, you will prosper,” said Pereira. “They are only in it for the money and power.”
And he isn’t?
In June 5, 2014, it was YOGA (see page 11). A year later, it’s WCCM meditation.

Dear Fr. Cajetan Menezes, Director, Snehalaya, Mumbai,
We are informed that in the Family Link, the bulletin of the Archdiocesan Family Commission, Mumbai, Vol. 13, no. 2 of December 2014, you have published an article titled “Law of graduality: living with the imperfect” by Fr. Thomas Reese SJ.
I am certain that you must be aware that Fr. Reese is a dissenting theologian who has had a run-in with Rome on a few occasions and he is in the “progressive” camp on the issues that have been and are to be taken up at the Synods on the Family (October 2014 and October 2015).
Since you are on the national level committee of five persons that has been constituted by the CCBI to gather information, feedback and responses to the Synod-related, Questionnaire from the faithful and religious, we were wondering if you had realized the consequences of the mal-influence that Fr. Reese’s article could have on individuals especially since his arguments in favour of the “Law of graduality” are not compatible with Catholic orthodoxy?
Since Family Link is the journal of the Bombay Archdiocesan Family Commission, does the inclusion of the article in its December issue mean that the Archdiocese of Bombay concurs with the liberal views of Fr. Reese?
I would like to hear your views on the matter.
Thanking you, Michael

Most boys saw pornography first in class V – Mumbai Mirror –
And most schoolgirls saw porn first in class VII. The survey covered 16 of the city’s parishes and 7 colleges.
The Snehalaya Family Service Centre of the Archdiocese of Bombay under its director Fr. Cajetan Menezes conducted a survey of the porn viewing habits of two groups of people in 16 of the city’s parishes and seven of its colleges said the Mumbai Mirror of 20th March, 2015.
Does the Cardinal approve of such a survey being made public and thus exposing the young Catholic boys and girls to suspicion and stalking from people of other communities? Our community has been made vulnerable for personal gain and media attention!
Has not Fr. Cajetan Menezes acted ultra vires and thus abused his powers as a priest and made use of a church institution to seek out information that are meant for the confessional and made it public in the secular media?
How many years has he completed in Snehalaya FSC and why has he been encouraged for so long in this position? Will the Bishops act against such abuse?
Many have called up to say that they can no longer trust the priests now to keep things secret: how did Nisha D’Costa as quoted by the Mumbai Mirror, come to know that faithful are seeking forgiveness in confession? “According to her (i.e. Nisha D’Costa), the exercise was prompted by, among other reasons, increasing instances of the faithful seeking forgiveness in the confessional for having watched porn on mobile phones or computers” – quote from Mumbai Mirror
The buck may stop at you Cardinal Oswald Gracias, because in your recent statement on the rape, in the 1.36th minute you spoke about giving women equal opportunities in position of responsibility: “Could it be that under the garb of research you are allowing women to sit in the confessionals or could this be the beginning of the abuse”
Fr. Conrad Saldanha has already pointed out about how an attempt was made to break the seal of confession.
It is high time action is taken on such serious issues otherwise people will lose faith.

IS YOGA BEING TAUGHT AND ACCEPTED BY THE CHURCH IN MUMBAI?
By The Voice Of Bombay’s Catholic Laity, November 14, 2011 at 1:49 am
Is yoga being taught and accepted by the Church in Mumbai?
Is Yoga taught and also encouraged as a way of life for the priesthood?
Are there priest staff members who are deeply into yoga and have been often found frequenting a Buddhist centre at Igatpuri for Vipassana where one is not allowed to say the daily mass, or recite any Christian prayer or practice any devotion and where carrying of any form of spiritual articles is discouraged?
Are seminarians hoarded together under compulsion to such programmes in the name of retreats?
There are priests who even teach yoga in parishes, like Fr. Vincent Pereira at Amboli. It is gathered that there are some who go to the USA to regularly for conducting yoga classes. Fr. Evan D’Souza, Fr. Patrick D’Mello, Fr Felix Rebello from Panvel, Fr. Rudolph Andrades, are priests who promote the cause of yoga and vipassana and other New Age methodologies. Some are even earning dollars and rupees from yoga.
A priest-run foundation* is heavily intoxicated with yoga. The said priest claims BKS Iyengar to be his Guru rather than Jesus. The Archdiocese has done nothing to rein in this priest all because there has been a nexus between the Bishops and him. *Fr. Joe Pereira, Kripa Foundation**
The ultimate question is this:
1) What is lacking in Catholic spirituality that we are finding solace in these spiritualities?
2) Are we ordaining priests to promote yoga and eastern techniques or to proclaim the Gospel?
The most notorious are the Jesuits and SVD religious orders who have been unrestrictedly promoting them.
Priests who have opposed such contamination are marked out and isolated without any dialogue while on the other hand the Church has been promoting such syncretism in the name of dialogue.
The following is the list of visiting professors at the St. Pius Seminary Goregaon from its official website.
VISITING PROFESSORS
(The list of visiting professors contains 55 names, 8 of who are associated with KRIPA/WCCM. That’s an astounding 14%. They are
Fr. Joseph H. Pereira: Counselling
Bishop Agnelo Gracias: Systematic Theology
Fr. Nigel Barrett: Communication Media
Fr. Barthol Barretto: Spiritual Direction & Homiletics
Fr. Anthony Charanghat: Mass Media Communications
Mr. Joe Cordo: Mass Media Communications (He produces films on Fr. Joe Pereira. See further below.)
Fr. Anthony J. Fernandes: Pastoral Ministry (Youth Animation), Director of Vocation and Youths, Archdiocese of Bombay
Fr. Cajetan Menezes*: Pastoral Counselling
*Fr. Cajetan Menezes is on the “guiding board” of Kripa Foundation of Fr. Joe Pereira.
Source: http://kripafoundation.blogspot.in/2013/04/fr-joe-announces-new-guiding-board-of.html
Just for the record, at least two more of the “visiting professors” are yoga gurus:
Fr. Patrick D’Mello: Inter-Personal Skills, Pastoral Ministry (SCCs & BHCs)
Ms. Juliet D’Souza: Yoga
The entire system of the Catholic Church in India is rotten — with yoga – and Fr. Joe Pereira plays a leading role in it in the Archdiocese of Bombay, in Vasai… and beyond.

At the recently concluded conference, the community was filled and soaked with the teaching of John Main OSB and Fr. Laurence Freeman OSB.
As I mentioned on page 1, according to an August 17, 2011 letter from the Benedictine Abbot Primate Dr. Notker Wolf OSB, the current leader Fr. Laurence Freeman of the WCCM is NO LONGER A BENEDICTINE
MONK though Fr. Joe Pereira and Christopher Mendonca
continue to use his name with the OSB suffix.

EXTRACT
June 20, 2015
Through the practice of Christian Meditation, the special book and DVD of Yoga for the practice of Christian Meditation is now in over 120 countries. The Catholic Church in India has always used this ancient science for prayer and Meditation. Just as while adopting the Pentecostal renewal the Catholic Church maintains certain cautions, in a similar way we must use our discretion in not identifying the therapeutic use of yoga with a whole lot of misguided use of this ancient practice.
Lies! Fabrication!
The Church has never “used this ancient science for prayer and Meditation“.
The Church has never “adopt(ed) the Pentecostal renewal“. It was a spontaneous occurrence. One can adopt a ritual or observance but not a spiritual practice that often is accompanied by scientifically inexplicable phenomena.
In and through the body the addict is made to live the teaching of Jesus that true discipleship is a matter of “denying one’s self”, taking up the cross of Reality and being faithful in following the programme one day at a time.
A distortion of Jesus’ exhortation to take up one’s cross of suffering and follow Him.
I have read as well as heard several of Fr. Joe Pereira’s homilies. They sicken me. He can rarely if ever deliver a homily, no matter what the readings and Gospel of the day are, without bringing in his Hindu yoga guru Iyengar and or Mother Teresa (ad nauseam is the correct expression; he likes to point out that she died on September 5, 1997, a few hours before the day of his birth anniversary), referring to leading New Ager Carl Jung or Hinduist theologians like Raimundo Panikkar and the like. There is very little, if at all, mention of Christ and the True Gospel. If there is such, it is grossly distorted and misinterpreted to bolster his pet themes of yoga spirituality, charismatic-bashing, the alleged sanction in Vatican Council II Documents of the need to adopt and adapt from other spiritualities, and the great importance of liberating people from drugs and alcohol abuse. While one cannot but agree that he the priest is doing a commendable thing in combating substance abuse, the end does not justify the means. I have never once heard him say or write a word about the eternal salvation of the souls for which Jesus suffered horribly and died on the cross. He simply cannot do that because he is so preoccupied with presenting Jesus as the “Supreme Yogi” or preaching on the god within, by whichever name we may want to call it (this is so as not to offend his clientele who are mostly Western pagans and ignorant, lapsed or syncretized Catholics.)
Fr. Joe Pereira is by far the most highly decorated and awarded Indian priest by the Government of India, by the Church in India, and in the West. He was awarded the fourth highest civilian honour, the Padma Shri, in 2009, “for his contributions to society”.
But it all comes to nothing if his name is not inscribed in the Book of Life (Revelation 3:5, 13:8, 17:8, 20:12, 20:15, 21:27, etc.)
The alternative is… THE LAKE OF FIRE!
Those who encourage, endorse, felicitate and facilitate the errors of Fr. Joe Pereira, the WCCM and KRIPA might do well to seriously meditate (and that’s not intended to be a pun!) on that.
