Francis-appointed Cardinals back Jesuit’s pro-LGBT book

A top Vatican cardinal and several other high-ranking prelates have praised a new book on what the Catholic Church’s relationship with the “LGBT community” should be, written by progressive Jesuit Father James Martin.
Martin’s book is titled Building A Bridge: How the Catholic Church and the LGBT Community Can Enter into a Relationship of Respect, Compassion, and Sensitivity. Religion News Service reports that in the book, Martin says “church leaders should address LGBT people by the term they call themselves.”
Martin also says Church employees shouldn’t be fired for going against Church teaching by endorsing homosexual acts or openly professing homosexuality because “such firings selectively target LGBT people.”
Far-left dissident nun Sister Jeannine Gramick* endorsed Martin’s book as a “must-read” that “shows how the Rosary and the rainbow flag can peacefully meet each other.”
Fr. James Martin and Sr. Jeannine Gramick
The Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith has banned Gramick from “any pastoral work involving homosexual persons.”
Cardinal Kevin Farrell, appointed by Pope Francis to head the Vatican’s life and family dicastery, called Martin’s book “a welcome and much-needed book that will help bishops, priests, pastoral associates, and all church leaders more compassionately minister to the LGBT community.”
“It will also help LGBT Catholics feel more at home in what is, after all, their church,” said Farrell, the former bishop of Dallas.
Farrell has repeatedly praised the controversial exhortation Amoris Laetitia, which critics say contradicts or can be interpreted to contradict Catholic moral teaching. He says it opens the door for those living in invalid sexual unions (labeled by the Church to be adultery) to receive Holy Communion.
Newark Cardinal Joseph Tobin, made a cardinal by Pope Francis, endorsed the book: “In too many parts of our church LGBT people have been made to feel unwelcome, excluded, and even shamed. Father Martin’s brave, prophetic, and inspiring new book marks an essential step in inviting church leaders to minister with more compassion, and in reminding LGBT Catholics that they are as much a part of our church as any other Catholic.”
Tobin has criticized the four cardinals who asked Pope Francis for moral clarity on Amoris Laetitia as “troublesome” and “at best naive.”
Martin’s book is also endorsed by San Diego Bishop Robert McElroy, famous for instructing his priests to accept “LGBT families” and give Communion to adulterers, banning an outspoken pro-life priest from writing bulletin columns, and calling the Catechism’s language “very destructive.”
“The Gospel demands that LGBT Catholics must be genuinely loved and treasured in the life of the church. They are not,” according to McElroy’s endorsement. The book “provides us with the language, perspective, and sense of urgency to replace a culture of alienation with a culture of merciful inclusion.”
McElroy has suggested there is an “anti-gay prejudice that exists in our Catholic community and in our country.”
“My own view is that much of the destructive attitude of many Catholics to the gay and lesbian community is motivated by a failure to comprehend the totality of the church’s teaching on homosexuality,” McElroy told America magazine. Labeling homosexual acts as “intrinsically disordered,” as the Catechism does, is “very destructive language that I think we should not use pastorally,” he said.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches that those with same-sex attraction “must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity” and “every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided” (CCC 2358).
The Catechism also teaches: “Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity, tradition has always declared that ‘homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered.’ They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved” (CCC 2357).
When it comes to same-sex relationships, the Catechism makes distinctions between the person, the inclination, and the act. It labels sexual activity between people of the same sex, and the inclination to commit them, disordered. It does not, however, label any person disordered. Being attracted to people of the same sex is not a sin in and of itself, the Catechism teaches, but acting on it would be.
In November 2016, Martin accepted an award from a pro-gay group, New Ways Ministry, that has been condemned by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith and the U.S. Catholic bishops. In his acceptance speech, Martin said the Church should embrace homosexuality’s “special gifts.”
In the same speech, he suggested that some Catholic bishops who uphold the Church’s teaching on sexual morality might be “trapped brethren” who are secretly gay themselves. He also praised a 17-year-old for “coming out” on a retreat and equated sexual proclivities with race and age.
New Ways Ministry has been banned from speaking in Catholic dioceses across the country. It is “a gay-positive ministry of advocacy and justice for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) Catholics, and reconciliation within the larger Christian and civil communities.” Part of its mission is to “identify and combat personal and structural homophobia,” and “work for changes in attitudes and promote the acceptance of LGBT people as full and equal members of church and society.”
When President Trump rescinded the Obama administration’s transgender bathroom order, Martin tweeted his support of boys using the girls’ bathroom and vice versa to over 100,000 twitter followers.

Fr. Robert Nugent and Sr. Jeannine Gramick: The two spent much of their religious careers working in ministry to homosexuals. In 1984 they were forced to leave their New Ways Ministry. In 1988, they were again investigated and in 1999 the Vatican sanctioned them for not representing authentic church teaching about homosexuality.
They received sanctions from their religious congregations that essentially prohibited them from participating in public ministry to homosexuals. Nugent, a Salvatorian priest, accepted the sanctions. Gramick left the School Sisters of Notre Dame and joined the Loreto Sisters in 2004

1. Cardinal Kevin Farrell seems to forget that the Catholic Church is Christ’s Church, founded by Jesus on St. Peter & His First Apostles. It does not belong to the LGBT. Jesus laid down the rules (the Ten Commandments) & gave us the Sacraments & the Holy Mass & His promise to be with His Church until the End Times.
There is no compunction on anyone to be a member of His Church, except that if you are not you most probably won’t be saved from eternal damnation. Those who willfully trashed the Sacred Liturgy in deference to false ecumenism with schismatics & those who now wish to re-write the Ten Commandments to ‘accompany’ & ‘welcome’ those who find them too hard to live up to, will definitely know all about the existence of Hell, which they now deny, as it’s not in keeping with the gospel.
2. If Cardinals do not care & fail to publicly defend the teachings of the Church for which purpose they are elevated to that position, then they are not fit for purpose & should be required to resign their offices. If the reigning Pope and hierarchy have relinquished Christ’s commandments & are embracing NWO Marxist/Masonic ones then they should be publicly exposed as apostates. This would be in keeping with Our Lady’s statement that the apostasy would start at the top.
Top Vatican and U.S. church officials back new gay-friendly book

The Vatican’s point man on family issues and a U.S. cardinal who is close to Pope Francis have both blurbed a new book by a Jesuit priest and popular author that calls on the Catholic Church to be more respectful and compassionate toward gay people.
They called it “brave, prophetic, and inspiring” and a “much-needed book.”
Such positive language from such senior church leaders is extraordinary and another sign of how Francis is reorienting the church toward a more pastoral focus.
“Building a Bridge: How the Catholic Church and the LGBT Community Can Enter into a Relationship of Respect, Compassion, and Sensitivity,” by Rev. James Martin of America magazine, does not advocate for any changes in doctrine nor does it touch third-rail topics like same-sex marriage; nor do the churchmen who praise the book, to be published by HarperOne on June 13.
But simply using terms like LGBT to describe people is highly controversial for many in the church who insist that gay people be described as “homosexual” or “same-sex attracted” rather than by words that seem to affirm their orientation.
Cardinal Kevin Farrell, who was recently chosen by Francis to head the Vatican office on laity, family, and life issues, praises Martin’s writing in his blurb: “A welcome and much-needed book that will help bishops, priests, pastoral associates, and all church leaders more compassionately minister to the LGBT community.
“It will also help LGBT Catholics feel more at home in what is, after all, their church,” said Farrell, the former bishop of Dallas.
“In too many parts of our church LGBT people have been made to feel unwelcome, excluded, and even shamed,” Newark Cardinal Joseph Tobin, who Francis personally picked for the New Jersey archdiocese, adds in a blurb.
“Father Martin’s brave, prophetic, and inspiring new book marks an essential step in inviting church leaders to minister with more compassion, and in reminding LGBT Catholics that they are as much a part of our church as any other Catholic.”
“The Gospel demands that LGBT Catholics must be genuinely loved and treasured in the life of the church. They are not,” writes Bishop Robert McElroy of San Diego, also a rising star in the U.S. hierarchy, in another endorsement.
McElroy says Martin “provides us with the language, perspective, and sense of urgency to replace a culture of alienation with a culture of merciful inclusion.”
Francis himself sparked controversy when he used the term “gay” last year in saying that the Catholic Church should apologize to LGBT people, among others, that it has “offended.”
The pope’s comments came in the wake of the shooting massacre at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Fla., in June that left 49 dead, and Martin’s book also emerged from that tragedy.
Martin, whose books about Jesus and Catholic spirituality and related topics have landed on the best-seller lists, has often written about the role of gays and lesbians in the church, and about the need for the church to do more to welcome them.
But he was struck by the relative lack of compassion from U.S. bishops for gays and lesbians who were targeted in the Orlando shooting and elsewhere, and he voiced his concerns in a powerful Facebook video that went viral.
The video prompted more than the usual level of anger and criticism of Martin, and prompted him to begin writing about how to address the rift between LGBT people and church leaders.
He outlined his views in an October talk — an address that would become the basis of “Building a Bridge” — as he accepted an award from New Ways Ministry, a group for LGBT Catholics and causes that in the past has been condemned by church leaders who said it was not authorized to represent itself as a Catholic organization. (The talk was reprinted in America magazine.)
A co-founder of New Ways Ministry is Sister Jeannine Gramick, whose views were considered so far outside the bounds of Catholic teaching that she was barred by the Vatican and her order from speaking about homosexuality. She transferred to another order and has continued to minister and speak and write on the topic.
In fact, Gramick also blurbs Martin’s book, writing: “Father Martin shows how the Rosary and the rainbow flag can peacefully meet each other. A must-read.” That she is endorsing the same book as senior church leaders is an indication of the sea change under Francis.
“I was delighted that Cardinal Farrell and Cardinal Tobin found the book helpful,” Martin said in an email to RNS. “To me, it’s a reminder that many in the hierarchy today support a more compassionate approach to LGBT Catholics.”
In his talk, as in the book, Martin called on church leaders and all Catholics to treat gays and lesbians with greater respect and sensitivity.
He said church leaders should address LGBT people by the term they call themselves, and he called for an end to the indiscriminate firings of church employees who are discovered to be gay or who make their sexual orientation public. Such firings selectively target LGBT people, he said.
But he also called on gays and lesbians to be more considerate and respectful of the hierarchy, saying both sides must listen to each other and learn from each other.
“This may be very hard for people who feel beaten down by the church to hear,” Martin writes in the book.
“One gay friend recently told me that this mockery comes not from a place of hatred, but from a sense of betrayal. But being respectful of people with whom you disagree is at the heart of the Christian way. And part of this is surely about forgiveness, an essential Christian virtue.”
The book also includes biblical passages and meditations for LGBT Catholics and their families.

Vatican names pro-gay Fr. James Martin as communications consultant
By Claire Chretien, April 12, 2017
The Vatican has selected a prominent LGBT-pushing Jesuit priest to be a consultor to its communications office.
The priest selected is Father James Martin, a progressive Jesuit who’s the editor-at-large of America magazine. Martin’s new book is titled Building A Bridge: How the Catholic Church and the LGBT Community Can Enter into a Relationship of Respect, Compassion, and Sensitivity.
In it, Martin argues Church employees shouldn’t be fired for going against Church teaching by endorsing homosexual acts or openly professing homosexuality because “such firings selectively target LGBT people.” He also says “church leaders should address LGBT people by the term they call themselves.”
Several Pope Francis-appointed cardinals endorsed the book along with far-left dissident nun Sister Jeannine Gramick, who said it “shows how the Rosary and the rainbow flag can peacefully meet each other.”
The Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith has banned Gramick from “any pastoral work involving homosexual persons.”
In 2016, Martin accepted an award from New Ways Ministry, a pro-gay group that has been condemned by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith and the U.S. Catholic bishops. New Ways Ministry describes itself as “a gay-positive ministry of advocacy and justice for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) Catholics, and reconciliation within the larger Christian and civil communities.” Part of its mission is to “identify and combat personal and structural homophobia,” and “work for changes in attitudes and promote the acceptance of LGBT people as full and equal members of church and society.”
During his speech to the gay activists at the New Ways Ministry event, Martin said the Church should embrace homosexuality’s “special gifts,” praised a 17-year-old for “coming out” on a retreat, and equated sexual proclivities with race and age. He said the Church should “lay to rest” its language about the “objectively disordered” nature of homosexual inclinations and acts.
The Catechism’s language is “needlessly cruel” and “needlessly hurtful,” he claimed, because it says “that one of the deepest parts of a person — the part that gives and receives love — is ‘disordered’ in itself.”
Many Catholics who feel same-sex attraction yet follow the Church’s teachings disagree with Martin and this reductionist approach.
After President Trump rescinded the Obama transgender bathroom order, Martin tweeted to over 100,000 followers his support of boys using the girls’ bathroom and vice versa.
Martin told America he’s “very happy to serve the church in this new way,” and that he learned the news via Twitter.
The Vatican’s Secretariat for Communications, the office Martin will be working with, runs the pope’s official Twitter account, Vatican radio and TV, and the Holy See’s website.
Michael Warsaw, EWTN’s Chairman of the Board, was appointed as a consultor to the Secretariat for Communications. So were another Jesuit and Dominican priest, several other priests, and faculty of Pontifical universities.
Dr. Dino Cataldo Dell’Accio, Chief ICT Auditor at the United Nations, will also be a consultor to the Vatican communications office.

1. As disgusted as I am at this announcement, I’m not surprised. The proper response is prayer. I’m a hypocrite when I say this because my first reaction is to shout obscenities. However, nothing is above God and His grace. I have to believe that in this situation He can bring some greater good.
2. The Globalists are running the Vatican. They’ve embedded themselves in the hierarchy since the 50s. These are the effects of foreign, freemasonic, anti-Catholic ideologies passing off as “Catholic theology.” Read about Bella Dodd and her cohorts working to infiltrate the seminaries with Marxist priests. This is how liberation theology got started. Satan’s 100 years are coming to an end soon. So, it’s only fitting. “St. Michael, the Archangel…”

Father James Martin appointed by Pope Francis to Vatican department for communications
By
Ashley McKinless, April 12, 2017
On April 12, Pope Francis appointed James Martin, S.J., America‘s editor at large, as a consultor to the Vatican’s Secretariat for Communications.
The pope created the new secretariat on June 27, 2015, which consolidated all existing Vatican communications offices and operations under one department. Msgr. Dario Edoardo Viganò, formerly the director of the Vatican Television Center, was made its first director.
“I’m very happy to serve the church in this new way,” Father Martin said upon learning of the appointment.
“I learned of the news early this morning, when Josh McElwee of The National Catholic Reporter and Cindy Wooden of Catholic News Service contacted me via Twitter to congratulate me. And given the importance of social media in the church today, that’s a good way to find out good news.”
The secretariat is responsible for Vatican Radio and the Vatican Television Centre as well as the Holy See’s website and the pope’s Twitter handle, @Pontifex.
In an interview with America earlier this year, Msgr. Viganò spoke about the principles guiding reforms to the Vatican’s communications system under Pope Francis. “Christianity is not an idea,” he said. “It is an experience within a people in a given land and must relate to the cultural, social and communicative context in which it finds itself. And since today the system of communication is strongly digital, it must connect to that.”
Two other Americans, Michael P. Warsaw, chairman of the board and chief executive officer of EWTN Global Catholic Network, and Ann Carter, co-founder of Rasky Baerlein Strategic Communications, were also appointed to the secretariat.
Appointment of Consulters of the Secretariat for Communication
The Holy Father has appointed as Consulters of the Secretariat for Communication the Rev. Fr. Ivan Maffeis, under-secretary for the Italian Episcopal Conference; Fr. José María La Porte, dean of the Faculty of Institutional Social Communication of the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross; Dr. Peter Gonsalves, S.D.B., dean of the Faculty of Social Communication Sciences of the Pontifical Salesian University; Fr. Eric Salobir, O.P., Promoter General for social communications for the Order of Preachers; Fr. James Martin, S.J., Jesuit Magazine America; Fr. Jacquineau Azétsop, S.J., dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the Pontifical Gregorian University; and Dr. Paolo Peverini, lecturer in Semiotics at the LUISS “Guido Carli”; Dr. Fernando Giménez Barriocanal, president and delegator advisor of Radio Popolar Cadena COPE; Dr. Ann Carter, Rasky Baerlein Strategic Communications; Mr. Graham Ellis, deputy director of BBC Radio; Dr. Michael P. Warsaw, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of EWTN Global Catholic Network; Dr. Dino Cataldo Dell’Accio, Chief ICT Auditor at the United Nations; and Dr. Michael Paul Unland, executive director of the Catholic Media Council (CA.ME.CO.).
Pro-gay Vatican consultant: Church must welcome LGBT people as God’s beloved children
By Claire Chretien, May 31, 2017
A video promoting Jesuit Father James Martin‘s new book on the “LGBT community” features a same-sex couple being received by a priest and a woman who identifies as a man. Martin was recently named a communications consultant to the Vatican.
“The Catholic Church has an obligation to welcome LGBT people to show that they’re beloved children of God, to celebrate their gifts, to listen to them, to accompany them, and suffer with and even for them,” Martin says in the video.
This video isn’t the first time Martin has called for the Church to embrace homosexuality’s “special gifts.” He said this after receiving an award from the dissident group New Ways Ministry, which has been condemned by the Vatican and the U.S. Catholic bishops. Martin has also tweeted his support for boys using girls’ restrooms and vice versa to his more than 100,000 Twitter followers.
The woman who identifies as a man, briefly shown in the video, appears to be Mateo Williamson. Williamson advocates that the Church become accepting of people’s transgenderism and use their chosen pronouns rather than ones that correspond with their sex.
In the video, Martin touts his book as answering a number of contentious questions, such as whether the Church should fire employees who enter into same-sex “marriages.” The video makes no distinction between same-sex “marriage,” which is not recognized by the Church, and man-woman marriage.
The only mention of Catholic teaching Martin makes in the video is of the portion of the Catechism that calls for people who experience same-sex attraction to be treated with “respect, compassion, and sensitivity.” He does this in the context of celebrating Pope Francis’s “Who am I to judge?” line.
“But we need not go far to look for other signs of welcome” besides the pope’s famous remark, said Martin. He then pointed to that line in the Catechism.
Martin didn’t mention what appears directly before it: “Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity, tradition has always declared that ‘homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered.’ They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved. The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial” (CCC 2357 – 2358).
Building a Bridge is “about more than an invitation to welcome,” Martin continued. It “offers practical spiritual resources for LGBT Catholics, their families, and their friends.”
“The book includes selected Bible passages as well as meditations and reflection questions to help LGBT Catholics with their relationship to God, their Church, and their own self-understanding – and to help their families and friends too,” the Jesuit said. “Because ministering to LGBT Catholics is not just about the LGBT person, but their parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles, as well as their friends, co-workers, neighbors, and fellow parishioners” and “all who care about the spiritual life and welfare of LGBT people.”
The Catholic Church: already welcoming, already sensitive
Martin’s words suggest that the Catholic Church doesn’t already “welcome” those who are attracted to the same sex or confused about their gender. This couldn’t be farther from the truth.
The Catholic Church welcomes and ministers to people with same-sex attraction, making a clear distinction between homosexual actions and inclinations (which it labels “disordered”) and the person (which it never labels “disordered”) who commits or experiences them.
It ministers to people who are engaging in premarital sex, which the Church labels gravely wrong. It welcomes people who are addicted to pornography. The priests who reach out to such people and encourage them to follow Catholic teaching do so because they know we are made for more than that. We are made for authentic, sacrificial love – not the blind indulgence of every sexual inclination, or to be used and use other people for pleasure.
Truly welcoming and loving people means wishing eternal salvation for them. This is why orthodox Catholics encourage people to refrain from certain activities that the Church teaches are spiritually harmful, and that secular data show are physically and emotionally harmful as well. This is also why many who have returned to the Church after being betrayed by the sexual revolution’s promises encourage others to do the same.
There are many same-sex attracted Catholics who don’t identify as “LGBT” or want to be referred to as such. They reject this reductionist approach to their identities and experiences.
“Either man governs his passions and finds peace, or he lets himself be dominated by them and becomes unhappy,” the Catechism explains (CCC 2339).
This, and the purpose of our male and female bodies, is at the heart of a truly pastoral approach to same-sex attraction. The heroic parish priests who deal with this delicate issue operate with love and utmost respect. They don’t condemn people because of their attractions or desires. They help all of their parishioners, regardless of circumstances, achieve self-mastery, get closer to God, live out their Christian vocations, and grow in virtue.
Talk to a priest who preaches the fullness of the Church’s message on sexual ethics, and you’ll meet a shepherd who cares deeply for the souls of his flock.

1. Martin’s views are not Catholic, they are of one who is a pagan.
2. Read “Amoris Laetitia”. It condones “fornication, adultery, and sodomy”. Fulton J. Sheen profiled the coming war between the God-Man and the Man-God. This is all about turning man into a God without any moral restrictions. As seen in another comment, it is called paganism. The “devil walks in the Vatican” and it isn’t at Midnight. It is in the bright of day.

Homosexualist Jesuit priest release new book Fr. James Martin

Father James Martin, the pro-sodomy Jesuit, is celebrating the release of his book and telling homosexuals and so-called transgenders that God created them that way.
In his latest book, Building a Bridge: How the Catholic Church and the LGBT Community Can Enter Into a Relationship of Respect, Compassion, and Sensitivity, Martin continues his mantra of denying Catholic Church teaching on human sexuality and natural law.
He is echoing the latest excuse parroted by homosexual or pro-homosexual priests and bishops, seeking to justify behavior the Church has always taught as “intrinsically disordered.” In his book, he claims the need to “build a bridge between LGBT community and the Catholic Church,” because of “a lack of communication and, sadly, a good deal of mistrust, between L.G.B.T. Catholics and the hierarchy.”
The book bears the recommendation of three bishops, Cdl. Kevin Farrell, prefect of the Vatican’s Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life, Cdl. Joseph Tobin, archbishop of Newark and Bp. Robert McElroy of San Diego — all of whom have spoken favorably of homosexuality.
Crux, the Knights of Columbus funded news agency comments, “In this much anticipated new book, Fr. James Martin, S.J, seeks to end the ‘us’ versus ‘them’ mentality that has long divided LGBT Catholics and the institutional Church.”
In a recent video, Martin answers questions about Biblical condemnations of homosexual activity. He answers, the proscriptions listed in the Old Testament and those written by St. Paul in the New Testament, “have to be understood in the historical context,” adding that in the times of the Old Testament, “they didn’t understand the phenomenon of homosexuality and bi-sexuality as we do today.”
He justifies his interpretation that since there are prohibitions against certain kinds of food, dressing habits and other things are no longer taken literally, homosexual activity should be considered in the same light. He even adds that Jesus Christ never spoke against homosexual relations in the Gospels, adding, “It’s not a sin to be LGBT, that’s the way God created you.”
Martin is attending a book launch at the pro-homosexual Jesuit parish of St. Ignatius on Park Ave. in New York on June 13.
St. Ignatius, itself, has recently “come out” in acceptance of homosexuality, announcing in its bulletin the creation of a “parish LGBTQ ministry,” as described by the pastor, Fr. Dennis Yesalonia, S.J.
He writes, “For reasons unique to each person, our LGBTQ parishioners are firmly committed to being Catholics, despite how they are characterized by the official teaching of the Church. They are nonetheless buoyed by their hope that the Church’s teaching will change.”
It goes on, “[T]hey want to feel accepted by this community, their parish, for who they are and to be affirmed, not simply vaguely known or tolerated as being LGBTQ. They yearn to be true to who they are, created out of love by God as gay, as lesbian, as bisexual, as transgendered, or as questioning of their identity.”
Yesalonia expects his “decision will not be universally welcomed or accepted.” He adds:
An LGBTQ ministry may seem to some to be unsettling and inappropriate for this parish. Some may argue that it goes against the teaching of the Catholic Church. Others may view it as the unleashing of dark and sinister forces which will lead to the unravelling [sic] of our social order or of the church itself.
He answers his critics, “Our Savior Lives! The shackles of ignorance, darkness and fear have been destroyed forever.”
Recently, Martin was presented with an award by dissident Catholic group, New Ways Ministries, with the Bridge Building award “in recognition of his ministry of communication which has helped to expand the dialogue on LGBT issues in the Catholic Church.”
Father Martin is the editor-at-large of the often dissident Jesuit magazine America, and has a constant media presence on Facebook and Twitter.

Why Bishops Should Condemn Fr. Martin’s Dangerous Bridge
https://onepeterfive.com/bishops-condemn-fr-martins-dangerous-bridge
By Brian Williams, June 14, 2017
The crisis in the Church today is accelerating at a speed surprising even by post-conciliar standards. Nowhere is this more obvious than the current shift in how the Catholic Church addresses homosexuality. The election of Pope Francis four years ago, the subsequent synods on the family, and several strategic promotions within the hierarchy have led to a watershed moment in the 2,000 history of the Church.
Later this month Harper Collins will publish the latest book from Jesuit Fr. James Martin, editor at large of America Magazine. Fr. Martin is also well known for his large social media presence (over 100,000 followers on Twitter and more than a half million on Facebook), as well as his past appearances on the Colbert Report on Comedy Central, and his consultative work on Martin Scorsese’s recent movie Silence. He was also recently tagged by Pope Francis to join the Secretariat of Communications dicastery in Rome as a consultant on means of evangelizing the world in the digital age.
Herein lies the problem, and it’s known by everyone in the Church, but sadly too often excused or dismissed: Fr. James Martin has become a vocal activist for “LGBT Catholics”, even going so far as to receive awards from dissident groups like New Ways Ministry (who openly support same sex marriage and call for the Church to evolve on this issue).
Fr. Martin also frequently takes to social media with articles and quotes in support of LGBT activism and talking points, only to receive praise from his followers. When doctrine is misstated by those very same followers, or they openly endorse homosexual acts as being holy and normal, he fails to correct them. That he sows confusion is evident after only a few minutes of reviewing his social media accounts.
In many ways, however, Fr. James Martin is a perfect representation of the contemporary Church. He is a post-conciliar poster child. He is the embodiment of the new Francis Church, where accompaniment, encounter, and dialogue (“building bridges”) have pride of place over outdated words such as sin, repentance, conversion, grace, judgement, Heaven, or Hell.
One only need to look at the endorsements given his soon to be released book Building a Bridge to realize where we are today. We are experiencing one of the great crises in the history of the Church.
Not one, but two recently-promoted cardinals have endorsed Fr. Martin’s book.
Cardinal Kevin Farrell, whom Pope Francis appointed as Prefect of the Dicastery for Laity, Family, and Life, writes:
“A welcome and much-needed book that will help bishops, priests, pastoral associates, and all church leaders more compassionately minister to the LGBT community. It will also help LGBT Catholics feel more at home in what is, after all, their church.”
Cardinal Joseph Tobin of Newark, New Jersey says:
“In too many parts of our church LGBT people have been made to feel unwelcome, excluded, and even shamed. Father Martin’s brave, prophetic, and inspiring new book marks an essential step in inviting church leaders to minister with more compassion, and in reminding LGBT Catholics that they are as much a part of our church as any other Catholic.”
The very problematic and progressive Bishop Robert McElroy of San Diego, appointed by Pope Francis, writes:
“The Gospel demands that LGBT Catholics must be genuinely loved and treasured in the life of the church. They are not. [Fr. Martin] provides us with the language, perspective, and sense of urgency to replace a culture of alienation with a culture of merciful inclusion.”
And then, among the endorsements of these prelates, we find Sr. Jeannine Gramick of the previously mentioned New Ways Ministry:
“Father Martin shows how the Rosary and the rainbow flag can peacefully meet each other. A must-read.”
So why would New Ways Ministry invite Fr. Martin to address their Bridge Building Award ceremony, and why would Sr. Gramick be asked to endorse his new book? After all, neither seek accompaniment, but rather acceptance-not of themselves but of their lifestyle.
And this is why we, the laity, need our bishops and priests — those who still hold to the gospel truth and Catholic doctrine — to condemn this bridge of Fr. Martin’s and an increasing number of bishops and cardinals. The bridge being built isn’t designed for repentance, conversion, and sanctity. It is not a bridge built to lead souls to heaven. In fact, the entire language of this current movement is completely void of the supernatural. It is therapeutic language solely focused on a temporal end: acceptance. It is capitulation to the cultural left rather than proclamation of the gospel truth.
This proposed accompaniment and encounter, this bridge being built, is not meant to bring souls out of sin and into a life of grace, but rather it seeks the conversion of the Church. It waits for the Church to evolve on this topic. Few in the movement care whether or not doctrine can or will change (it can’t); pastoral evolution accomplishes their work for them. At least for now.
By comparison, look to the international apostolate Courage which seeks to help people struggling with same sex attraction. From their site:
Persons with homosexual desires have always been with us; however, until recent times, there has been little, if any, formal outreach from the Church in the way of support groups or information for such persons. Most were left to work out their path on their own. As a result, they found themselves listening to and accepting the secular society’s perspective and opting to act on their same-sex desires.
In concluding their purpose, Courage notes:
In helping individuals gain a greater understanding and appreciation of the Church’s teachings, especially in the area of chastity, Courage extends the Church’s invitation to a life of peace and grace. In chaste living, one finds the peace and grace to grow in Christian maturity.
But here is why an apostolate like Courage will receive no public endorsement from the cardinals and bishop quoted above, or from Fr. James Martin: it begins with the clearly stated understanding that the homosexual act, just like pre-marital sex, or adultery, or any other sin of the flesh, must be conquered. Their accompaniment does not come at the cost of sowing confusion or with a tacit endorsement of a continuing homosexual lifestyle.
What Courage does have that the erroneous new movement doesn’t is a profoundly spiritual component. This is their bridge, designed to bring active homosexuals back into a life of grace:
1. To live chaste lives in accordance with the Roman Catholic Church’s teaching on homosexuality. (Chastity)
2. To dedicate our entire lives to Christ through service to others, spiritual reading, prayer, meditation, individual spiritual direction, frequent attendance at Mass, and the frequent reception of the sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist. (Prayer and Dedication)
3. To foster a spirit of fellowship in which we may share with one another our thoughts and experiences, and so ensure that no one will have to face the problems of homosexuality alone. (Fellowship)
4. To be mindful of the truth that chaste friendships are not only possible but necessary in a chaste Christian life; and to encourage one another in forming and sustaining these friendships. (Support)
5. To live lives that may serve as good examples to others. (Good Example/Role Model)
The other reason why this new bridge being built is dangerous and must be condemned is that it is part of the ongoing movement to discontinue the very language found in the Catechism of the Catholic Church related to same sex attraction. This, sadly, is consistent with the message being given by Rome these days. But nevertheless, the Catechism instructs:
“Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity, tradition has always declared that “homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered.” They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.” (CCC 2357)
The genesis of Fr. James Martin’s book was an America Magazine essay entitled, Simply Loving, and his address at the October 2016 New Ways Ministry event. Both taken together provide us with the strategy being employed to de-emphasize and confuse the Church’s teaching on human sexuality. We can generally break down this faulty bridge building into three components:
The Absence of Conversion: Unlike the Courage apostolate, nowhere in this strategy is repentance or conversion discussed. Instead, the focus is on the overly feminized and therapeutic language objectives of “respect, compassion, and sensitivity.” Fr. Martin notes that this comes directly from paragraph 2358 of the Catechism. However, when separated from the preceding language of the paragraph above, the context and balance is completely lost. Intentionally so. Authentic Catholic accompaniment requires that we include the language of sin and grace, mercy and judgement. Anything less is simply giving our struggling brothers and sisters a false compassion, or worse, affirmation of their error.
The Secular Language of the LGBT Left: Fr. Martin states that people have a right to name themselves. He told his audience at the New Ways ceremony:
“Names are important. Thus, church leaders are invited to be attentive to how they name the L.G.B.T. community and lay to rest phrases like “afflicted with same-sex attraction,” which no L.G.B.T. person I know uses, and even “homosexual person,” which seems overly clinical to many…I’m saying that people have a right to name themselves. Using those names is part of respect.”
In the current environment where self-definition has grown to include gender fluidity and transgenderism, Fr. Martin’s words are eerily similar to that of the sexual left. Further, the actual designation of “LGBT” for a group of people was a 1990’s construct of the secular Left. This is an identification with a set of beliefs and an agenda, one based on the approval and promotion of homosexuality as normal behavior. And this brings us to the third and final strategic aim…
The Depersonalization of the SSA Catholic: What the Courage apostolate does so well, and what the Catholic religion has always instructed, is to recognize the dignity of the individual. Fr. Martin and those bishops who support him also claim this. The problem, however, is that the LGBT label and movement that they have decided to embrace does just the opposite. The individual takes a backseat to the group and to the behavior. The same-sex attracted Catholic is defined by their sexuality and through identity politics.
It is interesting to note that Fr. Martin acknowledged this himself during his address at New Ways Ministry, although the irony of it seems to have been lost upon him:
“In this, as in all things, Jesus is our model. When Jesus encountered people on the margins, he saw not a category but a person.”
This is not the model he is following however.
What must be done at this time is for faithful bishops, priests, and laity to openly oppose this false mercy proposed through a faulty bridge.
Bishops are the local ordinary for their diocese. They can deny any priest or bishop from speaking within their parishes and authorized conferences. This is what many have done with retired auxiliary Bishop Thomas Gumbleton of Detroit, who has frequented some of these very same New Ways Ministry events in the past.
Fr. James Martin will no doubt be promoting this new book heavily in the coming weeks. He will very likely be asked to speak at some parishes or on local Catholic radio. Our bishops and priests, and those in the laity with a platform to communicate the message, must help prevent further confusion.
No one is more threatened by this dangerous bridge than those brothers and sisters with same sex attraction. Let us see more of our priests and prelates directing them toward an apostolate like Courage, and away from those who would seek to “accompany” them right off the cliff.

1. Martin is a card-carrying member of the lavender mafia. He’s an enemy of the Catholic Church and his ultimate goal is the acceptance of same-sex “relationships”, Communion for homosexuals who engage in sodomy and the elimination of the Catechism’s condemnation of this activity as seriously sinful.
Of course, this is an enormous leap but every giant step can be broken down into 39 smaller steps so incrementalism prevails. First, we must be “welcoming”……blah, blah, blah…..you know how it goes, right folks? We know the dissident playbook by heart, at this stage.
Not surprisingly, in the present climate, he recently received a promotion and is now a member of some Vatican group or other and his sissy-boy grin is everywhere.
2. Let us pray that Pope Francis does not approve gay marriage as a sacrament! This is FR Martin’s goal!
3. Some old fashioned views on sodomy:
1. Athenagoras of Athens (2nd Century):
“But though such is our character (Oh! Why should I speak of things unfit to be uttered?), the things said of us are an example of the proverb, ‘The harlot reproves the chaste.’ For those who have set up a market for fornication and established infamous resorts for the young for every kind of vile pleasure – who do not abstain even from males, males with males committing shocking abominations, outraging all the noblest and comeliest bodies in all sorts of ways, so dishonoring the fair workmanship of God.”
2. Tertullian (160-225):
Tertullian was a great genius and apologist of the early Church.
“But all the other frenzies of passions–impious both toward the bodies and toward the sexes–beyond the laws of nature, we banish not only from the threshold, but from all shelter of the Church, because they are not sins, but monstrosities.”
3. Eusebius of Caesarea (260-341) the “Father of Church History”:
“[God in the Law given to Moses] having forbidden all unlawful marriage, and all unseemly practice, and the union of women with women and men with men.”
4. Saint Jerome (340-420) both Father and Doctor of the Church:
“And Sodom and Gomorrah might have appeased it [God’s wrath], had they been willing to repent, and through the aid of fasting gain for themselves tears of repentance.”
5. Saint John Chrysostom (347-407) Doctor of the Church:
“But if thou scoffest at hearing of hell and believest not that fire, remember Sodom… Consider how great is that sin, to have forced hell to appear even before its time! For that rain was unwonted, for the intercourse was contrary to nature, and it deluged the land, since lust had done so with their souls. Wherefore also the rain was the opposite of the customary rain. Now not only did it fail to stir up the womb of the earth to the production of fruits, but made it even useless for the reception of seed. For such was also the intercourse of the men, making a body of this sort more worthless than the very land of Sodom. And what is there more detestable than a man who hath pandered himself, or what more execrable?
6. Saint Augustine (354-430):
“Those offences which be contrary to nature are everywhere and at all times to be held in detestation and punished; such were those of the Sodomites, which should all nations commit, they should all be held guilty of the same crime by the divine law, which hath not so made men that they should in that way abuse one another.
For even that fellowship which should be between God and us is violated, when that same nature of which He is author is polluted by the perversity of lust.”
7. Saint Gregory the Great (540-604) both Father and Doctor of the Church:
“Sacred Scripture itself confirms that sulfur evokes the stench of the flesh, as it speaks of the rain of fire and sulfur poured upon Sodom by the Lord. He had decided to punish Sodom for the crimes of the flesh, and the very type of punishment he chose emphasized the shame of that crime. For sulfur stinks, and fire burns. So it was just that Sodomites, burning with perverse desires arising from the flesh like stench, should perish by fire and sulfur so that through this just punishment they would realize the evil they had committed, led by a perverse desire.”
8. Saint Peter Damian (1007-1072) Doctor of the Church, cardinal and a great reformer of the clergy:
Saint Peter Damian wrote his famous Book of Gomorrah against the inroads made by homosexuality among the clergy. He describes not only the iniquity of homosexuality, but also its psychological and moral consequences:
“Truly, this vice is never to be compared with any other vice because it surpasses the enormity of all vices.… It defiles everything, stains everything, pollutes everything. And as for itself, it permits nothing pure, nothing clean, nothing other than filth.
“The miserable flesh burns with the heat of lust; the cold mind trembles with the rancor of suspicion; and in the heart of the miserable man chaos boils like Tartarus [Hell]…. In fact, after this most poisonous serpent once sinks its fangs into the unhappy soul, sense is snatched away, memory is borne off, the sharpness of the mind is obscured. It becomes unmindful of God and even forgetful of itself. This plague undermines the foundation of faith, weakens the strength of hope, destroys the bond of charity; it takes away justice, subverts fortitude, banishes temperance, blunts the keenness of prudence.
“And what more should I say since it expels the whole host of the virtues from the chamber of the human heart and introduces every barbarous vice as if the bolts of the doors were pulled out.”
9. Saint Thomas Aquinas (1225-1274):
“Given the sin of impiety through which they [the Romans] sinned against the divine nature [by idolatry], the punishment that led them to sin against their own nature followed… I say, therefore, that since they changed into lies [by idolatry] the truth about God, He brought them to ignominious passions, that is, to sins against nature; not that God led them to evil, but only that he abandoned them to evil… “If all the sins of the flesh are worthy of condemnation because by them man allows himself to be dominated by that which he has of the animal nature, much more deserving of condemnation are the sins against nature by which man degrades his own animal nature… “Man can sin against nature in two ways. First, when he sins against his specific rational nature, acting contrary to reason. In this sense, we can say that every sin is a sin against man’s nature, because it is against man’s right reason…
“Secondly, man sins against nature when he goes against his generic nature, that is to say, his animal nature. Now, it is evident that, in accord with natural order, the union of the sexes among animals is ordered towards conception. From this it follows that every sexual intercourse that cannot lead to conception is opposed to man’s animal nature.”
10. Saint Catherine of Siena (1347-1380)a great mystic and Doctor:
“But they act in a contrary way, for they come full of impurity to this mystery, and not only of that impurity to which, through the fragility of your weak nature, you are all naturally inclined (although reason, when free will permits, can quiet the rebellion of nature), but these wretches not only do not bridle this fragility, but do worse, committing that accursed sin against nature, and as blind and fools, with the light of their intellect darkened, they do not know the stench and misery in which they are. It is not only that this sin stinks before me, who am the Supreme and Eternal Truth, it does indeed displease me so much and I hold it in such abomination that for it alone I buried five cities by a divine judgment, my divine justice being no longer able to endure it. This sin not only displeases me as I have said, but also the devils whom these wretches have made their masters. Not that the evil displeases them because they like anything good, but because their nature was originally angelic, and their angelic nature causes them to loathe the sight of the actual commission of this enormous sin.
11. Saint Bernardine of Siena (1380-1444) a famous preacher, celebrated for his doctrine and holiness:
“No sin in the world grips the soul as the accursed sodomy; this sin has always been detested by all those who live according to God… Deviant passion is close to madness; this vice disturbs the intellect, destroys elevation and generosity of soul, brings the mind down from great thoughts to the lowliest, makes the person slothful, irascible, obstinate and obdurate, servile and soft and incapable of anything; furthermore, agitated by an insatiable craving for pleasure, the person follows not reason but frenzy.… They become blind and, when their thoughts should soar to high and great things, they are broken down and reduced to vile and useless and putrid things, which could never make them happy…. Just as people participate in the glory of God in different degrees, so also in hell some suffer more than others. He who lived with this vice of sodomy suffers more than another, for this is the greatest sin.”
12. Saint Peter Canisius (1521-1597) Jesuit and Doctor of the Church:
“As the Sacred Scripture says, the Sodomites were wicked and exceedingly sinful. Saint Peter and Saint Paul condemn this nefarious and depraved sin. In fact, the Scripture denounces this enormous indecency thus: ‘The scandal of Sodomites and Gomorrhans has multiplied and their sins have become grave beyond measure.’ So the angels said to just Lot, who totally abhorred the depravity of the Sodomites: ‘Let us leave this city….’ Holy Scripture does not fail to mention the causes that led the Sodomites, and can also lead others, to this most grievous sin. In fact, in Ezekiel we read: ‘Behold this was the iniquity of Sodom: pride, fullness of bread, and abundance, and the idleness of her, and of her daughters: and they did not put forth their hand to the needy, and the poor. And they were lifted up, and committed abominations before me; and I took them away as thou hast seen’ (Ezekiel 16: 49-50). Those unashamed of violating divine and natural law are slaves of this never sufficiently execrated depravity.”

On the way to hell. And he needs to be told it, before it’s too late!
By Michael Voris, June 15, 2017
Before we address today’s topic, I’d like to ask if you could offer a prayer for my mom. She died 13 years ago today; and it was her sacrifice which brought me back to the Faith, as many of you know.
Now, someone has to say it very clearly, for the good of his own soul; Fr. James Martin is speeding straight toward Hell. He is lying about the Faith and deceiving many. He is one of the leading homosexualist priests in the United States and is abusing his authority and role as a priest to the press for his own agenda.
This man was ordained to be conformed to Christ, to be an alter Christus, and is allowing himself to be manipulated by the diabolical to promote evil. Being a member of the ordained class does not make what he says true or preserve him from Hell.
Fr. Martin has been a longtime advocate for homosexuality in the Church. He deftly manages to push the envelope ever so carefully right to the edge, without ever coming out and admitting if he’s homosexual or if he supports sexual acts between homosexuals, but everything else he says and does around the issue indicates that he does.
He uses gay vocabulary, for example, never using the term same-sex attracted but preferring “LGBT,” which is not how a Catholic priest should be speaking. The very word “gay” or the term, “LGBT” are part and parcel of the lexicon of the homosexualist movement. He has had millions of opportunities to make himself clear, but he chooses to remain wrapped in ambiguity; and after so many times, it’s safe to say that he does indeed support a homosexual lifestyle, meaning he thinks homosexual acts are perfectly moral.
He’s written a new book, Building a Bridge — How the Catholic Church and the LGBT Community Can Enter into a Relationship of Respect, Compassion and Sensitivity. Wow! What a load of hogwash. First of all, notice the implication that the Church isn’t compassionate or caring or respectful. The Church provides a means to salvation despite the disorder of homosexuality. How much more compassionate and caring could the Church be? But most importantly, in an interview for the book with Religion News Service, Martin finally admitted his real agenda — he wants the Church’s teaching about homosexuality changed.
The lines that irks the daylights out of the homosexualist crowd are in paragraphs 2357 and 2358 (Catechism of the Catholic Church), which say in part, “Homosexual acts [are] acts of grave depravity, tradition has always declared that homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered. … They are contrary to the natural law. … This inclination, which is objectively disordered…”
For the homosexualists, this language has to go. Even Philadelphia Abp. Charles Chaput, seen as an orthodox champion of some kind, has agreed that the language “disordered is not helpful.” Whatever that means. Clerics like Chaput and Martin offering these kinds of comments is what’s unhelpful. They both say, people don’t understand this phraseology because it’s philosophical, which begs the point be made — the reason people don’t understand it is because clerics have not done their job properly and have allowed their flock to be steamrolled by the homosexualist movement.
Of course, it’s disordered. The sexual powers are ordered to procreation. That’s why they exist. They don’t exist for the purpose of bringing pleasure. They exist for the end of creating new life. Using the sexual powers in homosexual acts goes against their end, their order and are therefore DIS-ordered.
There, that wasn’t so hard to explain, now, was it? We’re willing to bet that anyone who heard that could easily understand what’s meant, whether they agree with it or not. It’s not a hard concept to get your mind around. But bishops have been so unwilling to even mention any of the sexual sins for the past fifty years, that they have created a vacuum that clerics like Martin have rushed in to fill. Having passed on their role as teachers, they have allowed distorters to come in, and boy have they come in.
As an aside, think about this for a second. Why is a layman standing here warning a priest that he is on his way to Hell instead of his superiors or bishops? Well, we know why. Martin, in the recent interview promoting his gay propaganda as theology, said the following, “Saying that one of the deepest parts of a person — the part that gives and receives love — is disordered is needlessly hurtful. A few weeks ago, I met an Italian theologian who suggested the phrase ‘differently ordered’ might convey that idea more pastorally.”
First of all, notice the appeal to emotions and not the Truth. It’s hurtful. Well, sometimes Father, the truth hurts, and the Cross just has to be carried. And that’s true of everyone on earth. But most importantly, notice the complete sleight of hand here. To suggest that “differently ordered” would be good to use instead of “disordered” is to completely change the meaning of Church teaching. It’s a lie.
And this is where Fr. Martin is imperiling his soul. He knows he is changing Church teaching by subtly introducing such a false term into the discussion. To say something is differently ordered is to admit that it is ordered in the first place. Homosexual acts are not ordered to anything, that is, except narcissistic physical pleasure. All homosexual acts, by their very nature, are forms of masturbation and are therefore ordered to nothing but intrinsic evil. They share the same “order” as homicide and rape, for example, which are also “ordered” to self-pleasure and not ordered to procreation.
Fr. Martin wants to make homosexuality out to be just a different thing with its own order, that we must respect and have compassion for. When he keeps talking about compassion and care and respect, he deliberately blurs the line between the person with same-sex attraction and the sexual acts. He blurs a further distinction between sexual acts and giving and receiving love.
One need not have to engage in sexual acts to love another, and likewise, just because a person does engage in sexual acts, does not mean they love. But see, to bring forth these critical distinctions would completely destroy Martin’s position; and he knows it. That’s why he lets them just hang there in the ether.
He diabolically twists “objectively disordered” into “differently ordered” and leaves unchallenged the assumption that one must engage in sexual acts if the person loves. This kind of evil on the part of a priest can only merit Hell, if unrepented. If he died unrepentant of this gross calumny against the Faith, how could he possibly hope for salvation? He is a tool of the demonic powers in confusing many people and leading people into Hell with him.
None of this said to be mean and all those stupid charges. It’s said out of a terrible concern for his soul. No Catholic could ever want or hope for another person to be damned, much less a priest. Especially a priest. St. Teresa of Avila said that when she was shown Hell, she could distinguish which souls were those of priests because of the intense agony they felt in their hands — the horrible burning where the holy oils had been administered to them on the day of their ordination.
But if that be not enough to turn this priest from his evil thoughts and actions, then at least let it serve as a warning to those who might listen to him. Do not. He is possessed of evil. Fr. Martin is on the way to Hell by his own choosing. Whatever demon he is wrestling with has gained the upper hand over him; and he has completely succumbed to him.
Pray for him that he might regain his strength and fight with everything he has to turn off the road to Hell. In the meantime, fight and resist all this kind of evil and demonic infiltration that has accomplished so much, through wicked clergy.

1. He’s a JESUIT!!! This is a revelation in and of itself. The Jesuits here in Munich are similarly liberal….
2. I VERY much doubt whether this man still believes that hell exists.
3.
Fr Martin try his damnedest to cover up the sin of same-sex attraction, like using the fancy term ‘differently ordered’, but it ain’t gonna work; he’s living in denial, denial, denial
4. This priest should be ex -communicated enough said!
5. All that I have done in this ministry for the last 9 years, offering the truth in charity has been dismantled by this heretic in a matter of weeks. -Bro. Christopher
6. I can see why Father Martin would want to try to get these people into the Church. It is the ordinary means of salvation. Good so far. Once they’re there, what then? They can’t receive Communion, if they are living an active homosexual life-style; that would be sacrilege. If they don’t change their lifestyle, being in mortal sin at death, they go to Hell. So, I would agree that we need to get them to the Church, but we need to have the uncomfortable conversation sooner than later informing the individual of the danger that they are in. That is what truly loving someone is all about; giving them the truth.
Who’s really responsible for Fr. James Martin’s revolution?
https://www.lifesitenews.com/opinion/whos-really-responsible-for-fr.-james-martinsrevolution
By Brian Williams, June 27, 2017
With each passing week the pace quickens. The revolutionaries continue to grow more emboldened. There is no time to lose. For those who wish to remake the Church in the image of fallen Man, instead of defending the immutable Truth of Our Risen Lord, the time is now.
With every new tweet to his 125,000 followers on Twitter, or every pro-LGBT article shared to his half a million Facebook followers, Fr. James Martin, S.J. ups the ante. The rogue Jesuit (which might be redundant), described by some as a wolf in sheep’s clothing (or Roman collar), has apparently made it his personal mission to change the faith of our fathers.
As I’ve written about before, Fr. Martin’s latest effort is Building a Bridge: How the Catholic Church and the LGBT Community Can Enter into a Relationship of Respect, Compassion, and Sensitivity (Harper Collins, 2017).
The book is interesting enough for the simple fact that it largely comes from an address Fr. Martin gave to New Ways Ministry in October of last year.
Now much of this might sound familiar to you. And this is where we start to realize just who is really responsible for Fr. Martin’s revolution.
In 1992, the founders of the pro-LGBT New Ways Ministry, Father Robert Nugent and Sister Jeannine Gramick, wrote Building Bridges: Gay and Lesbian Reality and the Catholic Church. The book was released four years after the Holy See had established a commission to review the work and writings of New Ways.
By 1995, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (under prefect Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger) was handling the investigation into the ministry of Fr. Nugent and Sr. Gramick. In May 1997, the CDF issued a statement regarding their findings. The similarity to the current confusion caused by Fr. James Martin’s “bridge building” is quite remarkable:
… the positions advanced by Sister Jeannine Gramick and Father Robert Nugent regarding the intrinsic evil of homosexual acts and the objective disorder of the homosexual inclination are doctrinally unacceptable because they do not faithfully convey the clear and constant teaching of the Catholic Church in this area. Father Nugent and Sister Gramick have often stated that they seek, in keeping with the Church’s teaching, to treat homosexual persons “with respect, compassion and sensitivity”.
This is interesting, of course, since it is the very co-opting, and proof-texting, of the Catechism (CCC 2358) that Fr. Martin employs in his ministry; even incorporating it into the subtitle of his new book. The CDF continued in their statement:
However, the promotion of errors and ambiguities is not consistent with a Christian attitude of true respect and compassion: persons who are struggling with homosexuality no less than any others have the right to receive the authentic teaching of the Church from those who minister to them. The ambiguities and errors of the approach of Father Nugent and Sister Gramick have caused confusion among the Catholic people and have harmed the community of the Church.
If this doesn’t capture the strategy employed by Fr. Martin today, then nothing does. However, that’s only the tip of the revolutionary iceberg.
As a result of their investigation, the CDF announced in that very same statement from May 1997 that Fr. Nugent and Sr. Jeannine Gramick were “permanently prohibited from any pastoral work involving homosexual persons…”
Writing 13 years later, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ (then)-president Francis Cardinal George said:
I wish to make it clear that, like other groups that claim to be Catholic but deny central aspects of Church teaching, New Ways Ministry has no approval or recognition from the Catholic Church and that they cannot speak on behalf of the Catholic faithful in the United States.
And yet, what do we find on the back of Fr. James Martin’s new book, but an endorsement from Sr. Jeannine Gramick:
Father Martin shows how the Rosary and the rainbow flag can peacefully meet each other. A must-read.
But this is nothing new. All this proves is that this current battle is decades old, even down to the very language employed by the revolutionaries (“respect, compassion, and sensitivity”). In the age of Laudato
si and eco-Catholicism, it’s understandable that the Catholic left would recycle their heterodoxy.
What is different now from the past, however, is Rome itself. Leading the defense of orthodoxy and doctrinal clarity back then was Pope John Paul II and Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger. While Fr. Robert Nugent and Sr. Jeannine Gramick could spread their errors and ambiguities, they did so with the condemnation of the Holy See. That is not the case with Pope Francis.
To understand who is really responsible for today’s revolutionary spirit, one that seeks to make the LGBT’s agenda the Church’s own, go back to the back … of Fr. Martin’s book that is.
Who else do we find endorsing Fr. Martin’s 2017 repackaging of the New Ways message of the 1990’s? None other than three of Pope Francis’ most recent episcopal appointments: Cardinal Joseph Tobin of Newark, New Jersey; Cardinal Kevin Farrell, Prefect of the Dicastery for Laity, Family, and Life; and Bishop Robert McElroy of San Diego, California.
All three of these prelates, much like Cardinal Blaise Cupich of Chicago, are viewed as Francis bishops: big on “mercy,” light on doctrinal clarity. Personnel is policy.
But it’s worse than that. For Pope Francis has withheld the red hat from traditional episcopal seats like Philadelphia (Archbishop Charles Chaput) and Los Angeles (Archbishop Jose Gomez); both men viewed as far more conservative and consistent regarding the Church’s teaching on marriage and sexuality. The elevation of Joseph Tobin to the College of Cardinals speaks volumes, as the Archdiocese of Newark had never had a Cardinal archbishop before.
So what does Cardinal Tobin, very much a Francis bishop, say about Fr. James Martin’s book:
In too many parts of our church LGBT people have been made to feel unwelcome, excluded, and even shamed. Father Martin’s brave, prophetic, and inspiring new book marks an essential step in inviting church leaders to minister with more compassion, and in reminding LGBT Catholics that they are as much a part of our church as any other Catholic.
Bishop Robert McElroy, appointed by Pope Francis to head the Diocese of San Diego last year, has immediately demonstrated his willingness to embrace the New Ways agenda of Sr. Jeannine Gramick and (now) Fr. Martin. He writes:
The Gospel demands that LGBT Catholics must be genuinely loved and treasured in the life of the church. They are not. [Fr. Martin] provides us with the language, perspective, and sense of urgency to replace a culture of alienation with a culture of merciful inclusion.
As we have seen, the only thing Fr. Martin has provided us is the tired old errors and confusion of New Ways Ministries. What has changed, of course, is that while St. John Paul II and Pope Benedict (Cardinal Ratzinger) are gone, Sr. Jeannine Gramick remains. But now Rome is on her side it would seem.
Three recent Francis appointments. All singing the praise of a priest who (nearly) daily sows confusion and dissent through ambiguity and error via social media and the internet. But he is only one man. One bad Jesuitical apple. His words carry much more weight because of those two Cardinals and one bishop who endorse his work. They are favored sons of Rome. Each of them. And everyone knows it. Most of all their brother bishops.
While we are right to condemn the “LGBT ministry” of men such as Fr. James Martin, it is also important to understand who is really responsible for this revolution. Otherwise, we are simply wasting our breath.

1. What are we to make of the silence of prelates, Pope Francis regarding Father James Martin? Your article sums it up.
2. Yes, it comes from the very top. Though obvious, it is good to see it stated. Thank you. Many still don’t understand, many refuse to look and see. Many look and celebrate sodomy. As sodomy is celebrated and as children are indoctrinated with it as something worthy of pride, we have become Sodom. The Church leads the way in spreading it.
3. Martin and his fruitcake ilk aren’t just enabling but encouraging homosexuality, shouting from the rooftops that sodomy and other acts of coprophilia are an expression, not of abject degeneracy, but of love. It would be better if a millstone were tied around their necks and they threw themselves in the sea for this straightforward scandal, but I doubt they’re believers. Google the photo of Martin giving the “devil’s horns” hand sign with both hands as he introduces an overtly Satanic rock band, and then consider that the pope singled out this imposter-priest for big things to come.
4. President Truman once said: the buck stops here! Correct. It’s the man at the top, and now we are seeing a “trickle down” revolution against the true Magisterium. Our Lord forgave the woman caught in adultery, but He also told her to go and sin no more. These clergy are enabling mortal sin by not condemning it; not shouting from the housetops what dangerous peril their souls are in. And because of that, they will be held responsible for the loss of their flock to the evil one.
5. The buck stops with the Vicar of Christ himself, Pope Francis. He can put an end to this right away. He could have Fr. Martin removed from the Priesthood right now. He chooses not to.
Fr. James Martin Would Declare Pro-Gay Nun a Saint–’I’m going to canonize Sr. Jeannine Gramick’
By Christine Niles, Detroit, June 27, 2017
Celebrity priest Fr. James Martin, S.J. is claiming a dissident nun condemned by the Vatican for her homosexualist views should be declared a “saint.”
“I’m going to canonize Sr. Jeannine Gramick, who was the co-founder of New Ways Ministry,” said Martin during a June 16 podcast, as reported by Deacon Jim Russell. “You know in the ’80s, they were really under a microscope, and then in the ’90s, Cdl. George in Chicago said they couldn’t call themselves Catholic; it was really severe, and, you know, she persisted.”
“Here’s this woman who has really struggled, and has really fought, and has really advocated, at great cost, you know, within her own Church,” Martin continued. “I’d put her up for canonization, and at least, servant of God, or beatification.”
Gramick was formally censured by the Vatican in 1999 and ordered to stop ministering to homosexuals because she was promoting views contrary to Church teaching. She defied the order and continues her dissent to this day with her group New Ways Ministry, which has a long history of defiance toward the Church:
Cdl. James Hickey of Washington, D.C. kicked out the organization from his archdiocese in 1984 for refusing to comply with Church teaching
The Vatican’s Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life ordered founders Sr. Jeanine Gramick and Fr. Robert Nugent to “separate themselves totally and completely from New Ways Ministry,” forbidding them from exercising “any apostolate without faithfully presenting the Church’s teaching regarding the intrinsic evil of homosexual acts” — an order Gramick and Nugent defied
In 1988, the Holy See established a commission under Detroit’s Cdl. Adam Maida to investigate New Ways Ministry, which recommended disciplinary measures for Gramick and Nugent for their defiance of Church teaching
The Vatican’s Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith took over the investigation in 1995, issuing a declaration that the teachings presented by New Ways Ministry were “erroneous and dangerous”
The CDF issued a formal declaration in 1999, approved by Pope St. John Paul II, that the founders’ positions on homosexuality “are doctrinally unacceptable because they do not faithfully convey the clear and constant teaching of the Catholic Church in this area”
The CDF concluded: “For these reasons, Sister Jeannine Gramick, SSND, and Father Robert Nugent, SDS, are permanently prohibited from any pastoral work involving homosexual persons and are ineligible, for an undetermined period, for any office in their respective religious institutes”
This censure has never been lifted.
Gramick has pushed for women priests as well as an end to Church teaching on contraception. She’s also publicly promoted same-sex marriage.
“I’m very saddened that some of our Church leaders have claimed that marriage must be between one man and one woman,” she said during a 2012 press conference, “that the definition of marriage has always been the same, that it cannot change. Well, this is simply not so.”
This is the woman Fr. Martin would declare a saint.
Martin recently published a book titled Building a Bridge: How the Catholic Church and the LGBT Community Can Enter into a Relationship of Respect, Compassion, and Sensitivity. Gramick endorsed the book, writing, “With this book, Father Martin shows how the Rosary and the rainbow flag can peacefully meet each other. After this must-read book, you’ll understand why New Ways Ministry honored Father Martin with its Bridge-Building Award.”
Several prelates also offered high praise for Martin’s publication, with San Diego’s Bp. Robert McElroy — a well-known, pro-gay progressive — writing, “The Gospel demands that LGBT Catholics be genuinely loved and treasured in the life of the Church. They are not. Martin provides us the language, perspective, and sense of urgency to undertake the arduous but monumentally Christ-like task of replacing a culture of alienation with a culture of merciful inclusion.”
Cardinal Kevin Farrell, head of the Vatican’s Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life, also endorsed the book, along with Cdl. Joseph Tobin of Newark, New Jersey, who recently caused scandal by giving his blessing to an LGBT pilgrimage and Mass in his cathedral, where he explicitly avoided calling gay Catholics to a life of chastity.
Martin avoids insisting that LGBT Catholics should be called to chastity — as the Church teaches — instead focusing on welcoming and accepting them as they are. He was recently criticized for justifying the homosexual lifestyle by claiming, “Pretty much everyone’s lifestyle is sinful.”
Phil Lawler of CatholicCulture.org shot back, “That statement is outrageous. In a sane world, Father Martin’s Jesuit superiors would order him to apologize.”
In February, Michael Voris aired a Vortex asking Martin a straightforward question: “Are you homosexual? Yes or no?” The priest has never answered.

1. I am a sinner but my Catholic lifestyle is not. Subconsciously he must have been speaking for himself!
2. No intellectual discourse necessary. When you listen to persons like Fr. Martin, they have no space for anyone else but themselves and their issues. You KNOW they don’t LOVE you. He feels so smart and smug. Elitist, with his own needs – he is only thinking about himself. What he has just said is – you have your problems – keep it to yourself. He has blocked you. Periphery my foot. These people don’t care one hoot about my soul. Not willing to make a sacrifice. Take sleep and mark death people.
3. Are they still calling this guy “father”? God help any child placed under this man’s care. It looks like it is over for the Jesuits!
4. Isn’t it about time to call for Pope Francis to step down for promoting Martin to Director of Communications? Pope Francis is ruining our Church. CM calls Martin a liar, which he is. Why should the Pope put a liar in charge of communications? Afraid?
Archbishop criticizes pro-gay Vatican advisor for book normalizing homosexuality
By Pete Baklinski, Philadelphia, July 7, 2017
As newly-appointed Vatican advisor Father James Martin continues his campaign for greater openness to homosexuality in the Catholic Church, a prominent archbishop has now stepped up to correct the Jesuit priest’s misuse of Catholic teaching.
In a column Thursday, Philadelphia Archbishop Charles Chaput criticized Father Martin for failing to be clear about the sinfulness of homosexual acts.
Chaput said that while Martin is correct in stating that the Church must have “respect, compassion and sensitivity in dealing with persons with same-sex attraction,” this does not give a license to him or other influential leaders within the Church to suddenly start ignoring Biblical teaching on sexuality.
“What the text regrettably lacks is an engagement with the substance of what divides faithful Christians from those who see no sin in active same-sex relationships,” the archbishop wrote in a column titled A letter to the Romans.
Pointing to St. Paul’s condemnation of homosexual practices, Chaput added: “If the Letter to the Romans is true, then persons in unchaste relationships (whether homosexual or heterosexual) need conversion, not merely affirmation. If the Letter to the Romans is false, then Christian teaching is not only wrong but a wicked lie. Dealing with this frankly is the only way an honest discussion can be had.”
Fr. Martin in his June 2017 book titled Building a Bridge urges Catholics who identify as “gay” to begin “conversations” with their bishops so as to move the Church in the direction of eventually normalizing homosexuality as part of God’s creation.
“I’m just inviting people to take the first steps, and for many LGBT people those conversations can’t even happen, because they don’t feel like they are even welcome to step foot in a church,” Martin said in a July 6 interview with CNN.
Archbishop Chaput wrote that Jesus “didn’t come to affirm us in our sins and destructive behaviors – whatever they might be — but to redeem us.”
“Paul’s message was as resented in some quarters then as it is now. In an age of sexual confusion and disorder, calls to chastity are not just unwelcome. They’re despised. But that doesn’t diminish the truth of the words Paul wrote, or their urgency for our own time,” he said.
While the unity between all the baptized championed by Fr. Martin is important, he said, there will be no real unity apart from truth. “The Church is not simply about unity – as valuable as that is – but about unity in God’s love rooted in truth.”
Chaput said that one book that takes the right approach to Christian teaching on homosexuality is the new book from Ignatius Press, Why I Don’t Call Myself Gay
by Daniel Mattson.
The archbishop quoted from Mattson’s book to highlight the shortcomings he noted in Martin’s book:
We cannot remain reluctant to speak about the beauty of the Church’s teaching on sexuality and sexual identity for fear that it will appear ‘unloving,’ ‘irrational,’ or ‘unreal.’ We need to love the world enough to speak about the Christian vision of sexual reality, confident that God’s creation of man as male and female is truly part of the Gospel of Jesus Christ we are called to proclaim to a lost and confused world.
We need to be a light for the world and speak passionately about the richness of the Church’s understanding of human sexuality. We can’t place the Good News of the Church’s teaching on human sexuality under a bushel any longer, for the world desperately needs the truth we have.
Commented Chaput: “Spoken from experience. Spoken from the heart. No one could name the truth more clearly.”
Cardinal Robert Sarah, prefect of the Vatican’s Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, urged bishops and priests in his foreword to Mattson’s book to speak boldly the Church’s teaching on homosexuality.
“[The Church teaches] things in the Catechism about homosexuality that some members of the clergy choose not to quote, including the clear warning: ‘under no circumstances can [homosexual acts] be approved’ (CCC 2357). The respect and sensitivity to which the Catechism rightly calls us does not give us permission to deprive men and women who experience SSA (same-sex attraction) of the fullness of the Gospel. To omit the ‘hard sayings’ of Christ and his Church is not charity,” he wrote.

1. We need more clergy to speak up on the blight that is active homosexuality in the church.
2. “Blight”? More like a “cancer”.
3. I am very proud of Archbishop Chaput for speaking the truth.
All Bishops need to heed the words of Dietrich Bonhoeffer – Silence in the face of evil is itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act.
Church leaders rip Fr. Martin’s new book on homosexuality
https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/church-leaders-rip-fr.-martins-new-book-on-homosexuality
By Doug Mainwaring, July 12, 2017
A scathing new review of Fr. James Martin, SJ’s recently published pro-gay book points out its flawed premise, namely “that the Church has misunderstood God’s plan for human sexuality for her entire history.”
Martin’s book, Building a Bridge: How the Catholic Church and the LGBT Community Can Enter Into a Relationship of Respect, Compassion and Sensitivity is critical of the church’s pastoral approaches to the “LGBT community.”
Fr. Gerald Murray explains in the National Catholic Register that Martin goes further, asserting that the Church “must now switch to a new teaching, namely that the union of man and woman in marital love is not the only path for the true and good expression of human sexuality.”
Fr. Murray cuts through the layers of sentimentality and misinformation that now engulf and entwine discussion about the LGBT world, especially within the Catholic Church:
“The real purpose of this book is to advocate for a relaxation of the Church’s teaching that sodomy is gravely immoral and that any attraction to commit acts of sodomy is an objective disorder in one’s personality,” said Murray. “The thesis of this book is that lesbians, gays, bisexual persons and transsexual/transgendered persons have been made to be such by God, and thus they should gladly live and express their God-given, differently ordered sexuality in a differently ordered way.”
Daniel Mattson, a same-sex attracted man whose book Why I Don’t Call Myself Gay was published on the same day as Fr. Martin’s pro-gay book, explains, “The reframing of human sexuality from behavior to identity has brought about a lot of confusion in the world, especially among young people. … It is the ‘greatest single victory of the gay movement.'”
According to Murray, Fr. Martin “assumes that God made some people by design to be homosexual and thus any disapproval of homosexuality and even homosexual activity is in fact an attack on God’s plan.” Fr. Murray points out, “This, of course, cannot be squared with Catholic teaching — it is the rejection of that teaching.”
In this way, the Jesuit Fr. Martin has aligned himself with the gay movement, not the Catholic Church.
“Father Martin rejects the teaching of the Catechism of the Catholic Church that the ‘inclination’ to ‘homosexual tendencies’ is ‘objectively disordered'” (2358).
Archbishop Chaput critical of Martin’s pro-gay book
Philadelphia Archbishop Charles Chaput has also criticized Father Martin for failing to be clear about the sinfulness of homosexual acts.
Cardinal Sarah’s advice to priests like Fr. Martin
Cardinal Robert Sarah, prefect of the Vatican’s Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, recently issued an impassioned plea to his fellow bishops and priests in his foreword to Why I Don’t Call Myself Gay.
He delivers a strong rebuke, calling attention to the fact that the Church teaches “… things in the Catechism about homosexuality that some members of the clergy choose not to quote, including the clear warning: ‘under no circumstances can [homosexual acts] be approved’ (CCC 2357). The respect and sensitivity to which the Catechism rightly calls us does not give us permission to deprive men and women who experience SSA (same-sex attraction) of the fullness of the Gospel. To omit the ‘hard sayings’ of Christ and his Church is not charity.”
Those prelates and clerics who justify homosexuality challenge the Church’s genuine understanding of the human person and of human sexuality, sweeping aside authentic Church teaching and endangering, rather than helping, those who are same-sex attracted.
In a phrase abounding with as much love as it is truth, Cardinal Sarah warns, “We cannot be more compassionate or merciful than Jesus.” The “hard sayings” of Jesus are often the ones which have the most power to deliver from darkness and transform lives.
Yet as Fr. Murray points out, Fr. Martin insists on proposing an alternate catechism.
Brian Williams, the “liturgy guy,” goes further: “The rogue Jesuit (which might be redundant), described by some as a wolf in sheep’s clothing (or Roman collar), has apparently made it his personal mission to change the faith of our fathers.”

1. If James Martin S.J. isn’t somewhere on the A to Z Pope Francis list, he should be. His views have been implicitly approved by virtue of his being appointed to his position after they have been known, and have not been repudiated.
I am reminded of the Dr. Seuss book “On Beyond Zebra”, wherein Dr. Seuss continued the alphabet with numerous and bizarre “letters” attached to fantastical animals. Maybe Fr. Martin would be best represented by “yuzz”, “fuddle”, or “vroo”.
2. The rebuke needs to be pointed right at, square in the face, James Martin. It is appreciated that our Church doctrines are addressed in this matter, but, I really do think that this heretic priest needs to be called out.
How many bishops have permitted him access to their flock, as he spews this garbage in many parishes? I have never in my life, seen such weak men, in positions of authority, fearful of addressing the person, by name, who is desiring many to turn away from Christ and His teachings, as he and others like him, ” accompany” each other straight to hell.
3. I wish we could quit calling him and the other heretics like him “priests”!
Illinois Bishop calls out gay lobby. Slaps down criticism by homosexualist Jesuit James Martin
https://www.churchmilitant.com/news/article/illinois-bishop-calls-out-gay-lobby
By Rodney Pelletier, Springfield, Illinois, July 21, 2017
Bishop Thomas Paprocki, head of the diocese of Springfield, Illinois, is calling out the gay lobby in the Church.
In a decree dated June 12, 2017, and titled, “Decree Regarding Same-sex ‘Marriage’ and Related Pastoral Issues,” Paprocki declared that clergy or representatives of the diocese cannot bless so-called same-sex unions or provide church facilities or objects for events connected to gay weddings. He further asserted that people in same-sex sexual relationships cannot present themselves for Holy Communion, serve any ministerial role in a parish, and if they die unrepentant, they cannot have Catholic funerals.
After being attacked by many self-proclaimed Catholics, including popular homosexualist Jesuit Fr. James Martin, Paprocki doubled down, clearing up confusion cast by Martin.
In his July 9 letter, Paprocki noted, “The fact that there would be such an outcry against this decree is quite astounding and shows how strong the LGBT lobby is both in the secular world, as well as within the church.”
He noted the decree is “totally consistent with Catholic teaching about the sacraments and the understanding of marriage as between one man and one woman that has prevailed for millennia in all of society, not just in the church.”
The bishop also addresses the criticisms of Fr. Martin, saying “he gets a lot wrong.”
Paprocki noted there is a difference in church law between people who commit sins of a private nature, like those who use birth control and those who are “manifest sinners” who give “public scandal” such as those who have public, legal status in same-sex marriages.
He addressed other situations in which “manifest sinners” cannot present themselves for Holy Communion without repentance and reception of the sacrament of Confession such as:
Those who have had sexual relations outside of marriage, whether they are heterosexual or homosexual
Those who have had an abortion or have assisted in performing or procuring an abortion
Those politicians and judges who helped to make same-sex marriage legal and who aid and abet abortion, for example, by voting for taxpayer funding of abortion
Those who use artificial contraception
Those who miss Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation, unless it would be impossible due to a grave cause such as serious illness
In response to Paprocki’s letter, Bp. Patrick McGrath, the pro-homosexual head of the diocese of San Jose, California, wrote, “We will not refuse sacraments or Christian Burial to anyone who requests them in good faith.” It goes on, “Finally, let us remember and be guided by the words of Pope Francis, ‘The Eucharist is not a prize for the perfect but a powerful medicine and nourishment for the weak.'”
Paprocki is one of the only U.S. Catholic bishops to express the existence of a “gay lobby” in the Church and to issue directives to priests and diocesan representatives to have nothing to do same-sex weddings.
He finishes his letter by affirming, “The truths of the Faith revealed by Our Lord in Scripture and Tradition are not always easy to accept, especially in a world that seeks to make all truth subjective. The fact is that some truths are objective and unalterable.”

1. Bishop Paprocki for Pope!
2. Bp. McGrath says: “Finally, let us remember and be guided by the words of Pope Francis, ‘The Eucharist is not a prize for the perfect but a powerful medicine and nourishment for the weak.'”
And let us ALSO remember and be guided, Bp. McGrath, by the words of St. Paul, inspired by the Holy Spirit, who said, “”Whosoever,” he says, “shall eat this bread or drink the chalice of the Lord unworthily, shall be guilty of the Body and Blood of the Lord.” And again: “He that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh judgment to himself.”
There is a difference between being weak, which would indicate at least some level of a) remorse and b) limited attempt to fight temptation and complete surrender (or worse) to sin.
3. God bless Bp. Paprocki! His career is probably over given the climate in the Church these days, and he might not make it to retire at age 75, but I’m starting to be impressed, I feel that way about very, very few US bishops.
Though it be completely out of season, preach the gospel, bishop! Speak the truth in grace and let those hear who have ears to hear.
In a just world, the Cdl Burkes and Bp. Paprocki’s would be the ones running the entire Church. Or rather, men like them would be so common their words and deeds that today make news headlines would go virtually unnoticed — it would simply be expected (and accepted; and respected & appreciated) that every bishop would say & do such things.
4. The comments on Father Martins Facebook post are horrifying. He is encouraging a seething hatred against the Church, her teachings and faithful Catholics.
5. Thank God, that the Church Militant is still alive and there are such websites! It’s awful how the Church today is infiltrated by anti-christian ideologies including that which calls to resign from any fight against evil and rejects ecclesia militans which in fact is one of the main divisions of the church. What one hears on Vatican Radio for example sounds much for often like anti-christian mainstream media. It seems like hippie ideology got to the very heart of Vatican. One can only dream today about the Vatican organising a crusade to save Christians or constituting a real opposition against world political players. When the catholic hierarchy acts against spreading the Word of God under cover of anti-proselytism and fully accepts anti-christian political order of the world created over last three centuries I believe that the infiltration has gone terribly deep and we are already at the very low point. But I believe also that with God’s grace and effort of the real faithful the Catholic Church may be reconquested from the ‘savage wolves’ and the false ideologies uprooted. And I believe that there still may be, before Jesus comes again to destroy all evil definitively, another huge victory of the People of God in the world against the satanic forces like it happened for example during the Maccabean Revolt.
